Peugeot Sport Total scores a double in the Imola 6 Hours Peugeot Sport Total scored a double in the Imola 6 Hours in the third round of the 2011 Le Mans Series repeating their Spa feat. Anthony Davidson and Sébastien Bourdais in the no.7 Peugeot 908 took the flag in front of Stéphane Sarrazin and Franck Montagny in the no.8 Peugeot 908. Marcel Fässler and Timo Bernhard completed the podium in the no. 1 Audi R18 TDI. In LM P1, the Pescarolo Team and Rebellion Racing, on level pegging, still have everything to fight for in the last two events of the Le Mans Series at Silverstone and Estoril. The other wins went to Greaves Motorsport in LM P2, AF Corse in LM GTE Pro, IMSA Performance Matmut in LME GTE Am and JMB Racing in FLM. In many cases it was a question of forgetting Le Mans at the Autodrome Enzo e Dino Ferrari since the start of practice on Friday. The Sarthe event had been a triumph for some and a race to forget for others so everybody was determined to concentrate on the Imola 6 Hours. Anthony Davidson's pole in no.7 helped Peugeot to put its Sarthe setback behind it. It was the same thing at BMW Motorsport thanks to Jörg Müller in the no. 55 BMW M3. Mathias Beche (TDS Racing) in LM P2 and Patrick Long (Proton Competition) in LM GTE Am set the quickest times. None of the Le Mans winners set the quickest times in any of the categories! Audi on pole for the Spa-Francorchamps 1000 kms Audi made a stunning debut with its R18 TDIs. The Ingolstadt firm's three cars set the three quickest times in qualifying for the Spa-Francorchamps 1000 kms. Strakka Racing, AF Corse, IMSA Performance Matmut and Neil Garner Motorsport bagged pole in the other categories. Since the start of the Spa-Francorchamps 1000 kms, the teams have all been faced with interruptions of the practice sessions. In qualifying for the prototypes, the no. 15 OAK Racing Pescarolo had a heavy shunt with Matthieu Lahaye at the wheel. The red flag came out and the session was stopped with 6 minutes to go the end. The driver is conscious and has been taken to hospital for more in-depth exanimations that look positive, but the weekend is over for the team in no. 15.

Peugeot win the Spa-Francorchamps 1000 kms for the fifth consecutive time Today Saturday, Peugeot won the Spa-Francorchamps 1000 kms for the fifth time on the trot after its four straight victories between 2007 and 2010. The 908s got the better of their German rivals early on in the race despite their poor grid positions and were never headed after that. I drove the (Nissan) Calsonic Impul GT-R 08 Race car and it was an impressive car. It was a little over tuned for the competition but after that amount of time to race I was taking no chances. The race was a little over 6 hours long, had to use the pause button several times. Hate to think what the two 24 hr Endurance races are going to be like. Needs a B spec driver like GT4. Prize Car for winning the race is a GT-R LM Race Car. Thanks for watching and if you liked it rate it.

Free practice 2: Peugeot tops rainy session A storm soaked the track mid-afternoon so only 29 cars took part in the second free session reduced to 60 minutes. At the end, the two Peugeot 908 stopped the time sheets with no. 8 in front of no. 7. They were followed by the no. 46 LM P2 Oreca 03-Nissan entered by TDS Racing. At 15h00, a violent storm hit the Imola circuit. Only 28 cars took to the very wet track between 17h00 and 18h00. Some of the front-runners like .the No. 1 Audi R18 TDI, the no. 13 Rebellion Racing Lola B10/60 Coupé, the no. 16 Pescarolo-- Judd of Team Pescarolo, the no. 41 Greaves Motorsport LM P2 Zytek Z11SN -- Nissan, the AF Corse Ferraris and the no. 50 Corvette C6-ZR1 entered by Larbre Compétition did not leave their pits. The classification throws little light on the strengths of the various teams. At the end the two Peugeot 908s finished on top in front of the first LM P2, the no. 46 LM P2 Oreca 03-Nissan entered by TDS Racing. The no. 2 Audi R18 TDI was fourth, over 4 seconds slower than the quickest French car. The first LM GTE Pro, the no. 75 Prospeed Porsche 911 RSR was tenth in front of the first LM GTE AM, the no. 67 IMSA Performance Matmut Porsche 911 RSR. The cars will start the third and last session at 08h55 tomorrow morning for 60 minutes on what should be a dry track.
