Leon Bollee 1897. Yesterdays motorcycles. Netherlands. ca 1897 Leon Bollee Tricar-Tricycle . Single cylinder ca 800cc 4-stroke engine Automatic/atmospheric inlet valve Hot tube ignition, so there is no spark plug used for the ignition. Instead of a spark plug ( not yet invented/perfected in 1897 ) there is a hollow tube outside the cylinder head as an extension of the combustion chamber. An external gasoline burner heats up the tube to red hot and this provides the heat/spark to ignite the compressed air/fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. There is a 3-speed gearbox which works remarkably well. Flat leather belt drive to rear wheel. Braking is by moving the complete rear wheel with drive pulley forward against the brake block. This also reduces the tension on the drive belt and the belt will run free on the front drive pulley. By moving the combined hand lever / gear change lever backwards the belt drive will be tightened ( clutch ) and one is on the move again.

Annabelle dances (1894-1897)
Annabelle Moore - American skirt dancer and stage beauty Early cinema's most prolific star, Annabelle Moore (later Annabelle Whitford, and finally Annabelle Whitford Moore Buchan) made several films for Edison and Biograph between 1894 and 1897. A follower of Loïe Fuller, Annabelle performed several dances at the Black Maria studio and was featured in the Kinetoscope's first London showing in October 1894. The Serpentine Dance, Butterfly Dance and Sun Dance were often hand- coloured and enjoyed such popularity that they frequently wore out, necessitating many reprintings and several refilmings . When the Biograph was launched in 1896 two of its earliest productions were Annabelle's Butterfly Dance and a Flag Dance in which she performed draped in the American colours. The sale of her films was further boosted in December 1896 when it was revealed that she had been approached to appear naked at a private dinner party at Sherry's Restaurant, New York. Annabelle remained the centre of public attention throughout the 1890s and 1900s, starring as the Gibson Bathing Girl in the first of Ziegfeld's Follies in 1907. Also known as 'The X-Ray Fiend', this comedy by GA Smith combines two very recent innovations: Wilhelm Roentgen's discovery of X-rays in 1895, and Georges Méliès' accidental realisation of the special-effects potential of the jump-cut in 1896. The central couple is played by the Brighton comedian Tom Green and Smith's wife Laura Bayley, and we know that they were filmed in October 1897 from Smith's cashbook, now preserved in the BFI National Archive. Railtown 1897 - Part 2 of 2 - Steam Train Ride - #28 #14 #599 - 2010
Souvenir Video: Located in Jamestown, California, Railtown 1897 is a California State Historic Park featuring Steam trains, rolling stock, and one of only two working roundhouses in America. Over 200 movies and TV productions were filmed using Railtown equipment. Included is the famous Petticoat Junction water tower. These two videos were to become souvenirs for visitors of Railtown 1897. The project was never finalized, but the videos remain intact. Originally taped between 2003 and 2006, a 2010 update was needed when the best-known engine at Railtown 1897 (#3) had its boiler replaced after being silent for over seven years. All video taping was done with only one still and one video camera and no personnel other than myself! Here it is, presented for your enjoyment and pleasure, is the culmination of several years of taping and editing. Have fun. PS: This is Part 2 of 2. Yes, you read that correctly indeed, Schoenberg and D-major. Genius work of youth, composed at 23 years of age. And only two years later Transfigured Night came to be completed... Allegro molto. "Mozart, Brahms, Beethoven and Dvorak were my models at this time. Nevertheless, it still required quite a number of years before I could write a string quartet in D major good enough for a public performance in the Wiener Tonkünstler Verein, half a year after Brahms, its honorary president, had died. While this work was strongly under the influence of Brahms and Dvorak, an almost sudden turn toward a more 'progressive' manner of composing occurred. Mahler and Strauss had appeared on the music scene, and so fascinating was their advent, that every musician was immediately forced to take sides, pro or contra. Being then only 23 years of age, I was easily to catch fire, and to begin composing symphonic poems of one uninterrupted movement, the size of the models given by Mahler and Strauss. Synagogue 1897 · Olomouc ·השואה · בית הכנסת In times,when Olomouc started to sprawl over the boundaries of ancient walls,the new establishments reveled in the most variety of facades.It is this reason, that we see today all kinds of buildings the builders graced with variety of architecture elements from roman to the new-baroque styles or even their mixture. One such example was the building of the synagogue that was built in the oriental-Moorish style on the former Maria Theresa square.This building,designed by the Viennese architect Jakob Gartner,featured huge dome under which was the vast area of 450 spaces for men and 300 separated spaces for women.The dome was constructed from iron structure resting on four footstalls covered with marble panels.The main façade was also covered with stone panels,windows and doorjambs carved form an artificial stone and main gates forged from iron.The building construction took less than two years;it started during summer 1895 and already on the11th April 1897 was put in operation.At that time, nobody anticipated that this building,in the next quarter of the century,would become a target of racial hatred and that its demise would signal the start of tragic fate of the Jewish population in Olomouc.The first Jewish settlements in Olomouc are dated to 1848.The building was partly burned by local fascists during March 1939 and eventually completely destroyed the same year by German fascists. הגלויות הישנית מעיר אולומץ מש1895-1897 בזמן כי <b>...</b>
