The Submarines - 1940 (With lyrics)

The Submarines song from the album Honeysuckle weeks. Lyrics to 1940 : Somethings wrong when you regret Things that haven't happened yet But it's a glorious day when morning comes Without the feeling of alarm So rise, and shine Nows the time to be alive To stay awake with me a while, and smile You couldn't sleep for the awful fright That kept you up in bed last But curious shape shift in the dark, They vanish with the sunrise spark So rise, and shine Nows the time to be alive To stay awake with me a while, and smile So rise, and shine Nows the time to be alive To stay awake with me a while So rise, and shine Nows the time to be alive To stay awake with me a while, and smile Somethings wrong. . . .

Coney Island of the 1940's

Coney Island, "the place where merriment is king!" Take a trip back in time 50 years before the Mermaid Parade. See masses of old school New Yorkers beat the heat by hitting the beach. See Side Shows! Carnies! Freaks! Thrill rides! Includes the original Coney Island Hot Dog, the Bathing Girl Review, and people getting sick on rides. Not to mention the Tiger Rag, if 1940's Coney Island existed today an insurance agent would have a field day. Still, 1940's Coney Island kicks the ass of most modern amusement parks any day. (This film is forever dedicated to artist and Coney Island mermaid Mary Karam. She is greatly loved and will be sorely missed. - Sept 19, 2009.) See more at: www.weirdovideo.com

The Trip, 1940's chevrolet car commercial vivid Technicolour

www.myxboxhacks.com In this 1939 short, a suburban California family gets all dressed up to drive their new 1940 Chevrolet to see grandma and grandpa, who still live on the family farm. Dad's in a suit and tie, and Mom has on a dressy dress and chic hat. Are they dressed up to go see the grandparents or are they dressed up to ride in their new Chevrolet? They pack their expensive looking luggage in the trunk This family has money to spend. When we think of the 1930's and families on the road, we're more likely to think of the old Model T in "The Grapes of Wrath" than of this affluent nuclear family. Is this image pure fantasy, or was America truly coming out of the Depression in 1939? The announcer mentions the car's"utmost economy" but that's not the real message of the ad. The Chevrolet symbolizes comfort (the kids asleep in the back seat), glamour, conspicuous consumption and personal mobility. The farm is another affluent place from what we see of it. Grandma and Grandpa sure don't resemble WPA photographs of dustbowl farmers, although who knows? Americans wanted to put the poverty and deprivation of the 30s behind them and this ad with its conspicuous display of wealth reflects that longing. i will upload videos soon to my upcoming site www.alchemygaming.com

Fantasia (1940)

This movie brings back so many memories hopefully it will do the same for you guys. I give all credit to walt disney himself including his artists in the 1940s for making such a good film. Btw the first few seconds of the movie kinda glitch so nothing is wrong with ur computer it's just a 4 second glitch and then it doesn't happen again. Duel from Mark of Zorro (1940) (plot spoilers)

Diego de la Vega vs Capitan Mondego, played by Tyrone Powers and Basil Rathbone respectively. Obviously this is a major plot point, so if you're concerned about spoilers, don't watch this, or don't watch all of it, at least :p Considered to be one of the greatest duels in movie history, and in my opinion, rightly so :) Taken from the special edition, and has been recolourised. I might upload the original black and white version for the sake of comparison but only if people request it. I also made a slow motion version for those more interested in the choreography of it, again that will be uploaded if requested. The filesize of this video is around 9.4MB

Incredible Sonovox - Kay Kyser - 1940 film "You'll Find Out"

Amazing device that gives voice to musical instruments. The Sonovox consists of one or two louspeakers placed on the throat that play the source sound. The performer whispers the words while the speakers stand in for the voice box. Used for the talking train in Disney's Dumbo, uncountable radio promos, a tube-in-the-mouth version "Talk Box" was used by Frampton to make his guitar sing, and all-electronic "Vocoder" versions are still used in current pop music.

Katyń 1940 (Ostatni List)

sł.muz. Lech Makowiecki zespół Zayazd Katyn1940(The last letter) -english translation. I'm jotting a few words for You today, Although, I know, You won't receive them again, I'm writing from here to You for the last time, Goodbye My Love- my time has come. I still dream the same dreams at nights, You are the pretty, young lady then, Son must have grown up- hug him from me, Now it's even harder to leave, Now it's even harder to leave. In the moments like this-you really want to live, Everything is meaningless, only to be alive, But the good God gave no choice, Today I'm standing at the end of my road. They ordered us to get off the car- it's here, This birchen forest is my tomb, I'll just sigh for the last time, I'll just think for the last time- I love You...

Stravinsky's omonimous score was supposed to be about primitive human rituals, but Disney's animators took a completely different inspiration from it and decided to tell the history of Earth up to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Tutorial for a key style of the 1940's, the victory roll. Once you master the roll (take some time and be patient), you can try alternate versions of the look by aiming the roll backwards instead of up so it looks like it's laying flat against your head, doing just one and leaving the other side loose, etc. Add flowers (like the Vargas print at the beginning) or other accessories...most of all, have fun!

Pacelli, Pius XII - part 1 (election 1939-1940)

First to voice any opinion that could be fruit of stereotyped ideas or ignorance try to see and to read the real history and to understand the real reasons that forced Pacelli to keep silent about some events, this doesn't mean his collusion with Nazism, on the contrary, he has done his all first to prevent and then to fight every totalitarianisms. The modern man gets used to suspicion and to bad faith and this has closed his heart and blocked his possibility to catch the real sense of a righteous person's action especially when he works in silence and unseen.

The ideal facial contour is supposed to be the oval. But some of us have round faces, square faces or long faces. What can we do to make our faces appear more oval ? 1.Round Faces: Don't wear too high a neck line. It shortens the neck and increases the effect of roundness! Hair well off the forehead and flat against the temple ! Thin lipsticks, correctly applied to follow the natural mouthline ! AV neck completes the picture and gives the impression of a little more neck length to give the impression of an oval face! 2.Square Faces: Keep away from haircuts that hang in vertical lines near the side of the face and jawline in.This over empasisies the squareness of the jaw.Avoid straight horizontal lines near the face - like thin lips / round or high horizontal necks. Fill out the lower lip with your lipstick. Hair should fall in curves around the jawline. Wear a V neck line to pull the attention down from jaw. Pure logic when you think about it. 3.The Long / Narrow Face. Don't wear V necks - This adds to the impression of length. Avoid Piled up high hair on top of head as this also adds to the length of the face. Hair should be off the top if the head and fluffed out at the sides to give the thin face added width. Finally a high ...

Charlie Chaplin's Great Dictator's Final Speech - (Oct.1940)

Read this text carefully without making any juzment in a hurry! Just read and think! Then, read what is says at the end of the speech transcript! •¤**¤•.¸.•¤**¤•..•¤ **¤ •.¸.•¤**¤•.. "Speak - it is our only hope" "Hope - I'm sorry but I don't want to be an Emperor - that's not my business - I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another, human beings are like that. We all want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone and the earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful. But we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men's souls - has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in: machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little: More than machinery we need humanity; More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. The airplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men, cries out for universal brotherhood for the unity of us all.
