2011 Chevrolet Volt - Charging

MPGomatic.com charges up the 2011 Chevrolet Volt. While charging the Chevy Volt is a straightforward affair, be prepared to wait: a full charge takes approximately ten hours with 120V and a standard wall socket. If you have access to a 240V charging station, a full charge will take four hours or so. A handy Smartphone app allows you to check the Volt's charge level remotely. The electric charge filler door is located on the drivers side front fender, and opens with the push of a button ... either inside the driver's door or on the key fob. Attach the charge connector first, then plug the 120V cable into a wall socket. The Volt will let you know that it's charging via the display on the dashboard LCD and with a steady green glow from the dash top charging indicator ... as well as through the smartphone app. When charging is complete, the dash top indicator will flash, and the dashboard LCD will display the fully charged battery range. Remove the charge cable, stow it away, and off you go.

2011 Chevrolet Volt Charging in the Drive - $41000 to start (not incl. tax credit), 35 miles AER and 37 mpgUS combined per the EPA. The Volt, named after Alessandro Volta, is a unit of electromotive force and is defined by the difference of potential that would carry one ampere of current against one ohm resistance. And while 99.97% of the world could care less what a volt actually is, those same 99.97% of the world population would love to own one ;) The Volt, a newcomer that we have been watching with great interest since the Concept debut on a cold January day in Detroit back in 2007 is finally here. Any number of CleanMPG members have done short hops in one with preliminary optimistic results (www.cleanmpg.com - A Volt in Milwaukee) and it is about time we discover more about the Volt with a full week behind the wheel. Let me add that so far, the Volt's design and capability is thus far proving it to be a lot better from behind the wheel than what we have come to understand from our reads online. With over one-hundred Volt stories from the initial concept release (www.cleanmpg.com - GM's Chevrolet "VOLT" shocks the industry) to minute detail on everything from (www.cleanmpg.com - Pricing) and (www.cleanmpg.com - tires) to (url=www.cleanmpg.com - battery warranty) and (www.cleanmpg.com - Awards), is there much more that needs to be written up?
