On Sunday, Septemeber 5th, Robert's Rail Productions went over to Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, Pennsylvania to attend Railfest. It was absolutely awesome with the visiting displays, equipment, layouts and a nice excursion to Moscow. But, the main reason I went was to see Canadian Pacific 4-6-2 #2317's final day of service. 2317 was built in 1923 by the Montreal Locomotive Works for the Canadian Pacific Railway. It's a 4-6-2 'Pacific' G-3-c. This engine is overdue for the FRA 1472 day inspection. However, Steamtown wants to get 0-6-0 #26 and 4-6-2 3713 restored before they work on 2317, so this engine will be out of service for atleast 15 years or longer. Possibly forever. So, I got my final shots of her pulling the Scranton Limited. When the day was done, 2317 pulled on to the turntable, gave a 20 second long whistle blast and pulled into the roundhouse. Everybody was clapping and it was sad to see that engine go. Parts 2 and 3 are to be uploaded hopefully on monday. photographs from the day may be viewed in this album: boberttrain.rrpicturearchives.net
