Catching up on a backlog of videos this week now my PC is finally working, so first it's time for a bit more F1 2011 action.

I got some hands-on with several Nintendo 3DS titles and demos. The basic tech demo shown after Nintendo's press conference was really cool, and it did a good job of showing the basic features of the new top screen and its 3D abilities. The best of the screenshots they showed was Zelda. After trying it on the show floor, I got my hands on ten more titles. Samurai Warriors was good. It did not go overboard with the 3D, but it felt natural. The controls were not the best, but it is only a demo. Kingdom Hearts was only a video, but it looked all right at best. Ridge Racer allowed me to actually race, which felt pretty good, but it played with my eyes a bit. I used the analog slider, which felt great. I was also able to briefly check out Resident Evil, Animal Crossing, Metal Gear Solid, Paper Mario, The Sims 3, and Kid Icarus demos. They all looked great, but because of time, I had to move on to other titles. I cannot wait to see the final products. The last demo I was able to try was an augmented reality shooter. It reminded me of System Flaw, as I was moving the 3DS around in real life to shoot spaceships with my face on them. While this was just a demo, it did prove that the 2 cameras on the front work great together to create a wonderful looking 3D environment, despite their 0.3 megpixels. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D is one of Capcom's upcoming 3DS games that is set to come out this summer or in Nintendo's "launch window." The Mercenaries 3D is meant to be a celebration of the past 15 years of Resident Evil. In hopes of satisfying both loyal Resident Evil fans and more casual 3DS gamers, the game offers familiar characters with arcade style gameplay modes. Gamers will be able to play as Chris and Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Jack Krauser, Hunk, and Leon Kennedy. I recently got some hands-on time with the game while at GDC. The game, or rather what we know about the game so far, is a compilation of Mercenaries Modes from Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. There will be 30 levels in the final build. The point of this mode is to kill as many enemies as possible while racking up points. New to the series is the ability to switch from third-person to first-person. The level I played was called Village; it was full of Red Monks from Resident Evil 4. The monks weren't overly aggressive, but when I got close, they attacked. I assumed they weren't coming after me all at once to make the demo more accessible. Although, it did take several shots to bring one monk down. The real focal point of this demo was to show off shooting while moving, and, yes, it actually works! Imagine that. You hold down the shoulder buttons to sprint past zombies or opponents, all the while unloading on them. It's a good feeling. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D felt like a RE <b>...</b>

HTC was around to show off its newest set of smartphones and tablets that it announced today at the CTIA Wireless 2011 conference. The HTC Evo 3D, which is able to shoot 3D video and can show 3D photos and play back 3D video, was among the phones the company released today. The phone sports a dual-core 1.2 gigahertz Snapdragon processor that can record 720p high-definition 3D video and 1080p high-definition regular video. The display runs a resolution of 960 pixels by 540 pixels — compared to the iPhone 4's retina display, which is 960 by 640 pixels. The 3D camera consists of a pair of 5-megapixel cameras — similar to most other smartphones on the market. Like the Nintendo 3DS, the 3D display does not require 3D glasses to display 3-dimensional images. There is a switch that triggers whether the display shows 3D images or 2D images, like the Nintendo 3DS. The phone will be available this summer on Sprint.
