Nos. 5029 & 4936 doublehead at the Mid-Hants Railway's Big Four Gala. This clip takes us up the 1 in 60 gradient from Alton to Medstead & Four Marks. Special thanks goes to the crew of 5029 who did an excellent job of crewing the GW loco, considering they had been crewing the A4 in the morning! Thanks Phil, Dave and Tom for doing an excellent job and for being great company.

The Three Choirs Express With 4936 & 5029 04-10-08

The Three Choirs Express was an excursion from Nottingham to Gloucester via Hereford and return via Worcester. The steam portion from Stourbridge Junction to Gloucester was double headed by 4936 Kinlet Hall and 5029 Nunney Castle. We open in Kidderminster, with the train crossing the viaduct just to the south of the station. From here on the route was all new to us so things didn't go too well, we arrived at Ledbury only a couple of minutes after the train had gone and at Hereford just as the locos left the train to take water in an isolated siding. During this water stop we moved south to a footpath crossing near Abergavenny, which the train passed some 30 minutes late. With the timings now thrown out we played safe and crossed to the Severn estuary where, as luck would have it, we stumbled upon the popular riverside location of Gatcombe. Unfortunately the strong wind and light rain made for a less than perfect shot. Having come off the train at Gloucester, the locos returned to Tyseley via the roundabout route of Swindon, Didcot and Oxford and we end the video with a shot from above the mouth of Sapperton tunnel in persistant drizzle and failing light. The video should have included a shot of Youtube's own Steam1989 plastered in mud from the waist down after slipping on the bank of the Severn, however a fault on the B camera has spared him the embarrassment.
4936 'Kinlet Hall' flys through Tamworth on the Lincolnshire Poacher

To Kick Start my 2009 summer holidays, I took a trip to the Severn Valley Railway with my mates, on the way down i broke my Journey from Leeds to Birmingham New Street at Tamworth, to see GWR 49xx 'Hall' Class 4936 'Kinlet Hall' pass through on a railtour to Lincoln here we see the loco fly through the station at High Speed, carrying a Headcode of B50? with the outward run, i also saw the return run at Burton on Trent, how ever i was on board the train home and had forgoten about the return run apologies for the shakey camera work, the wind and the fact i had arrived at Tamworth 2 minutes before 4936 arrived i was still setting up when i heard the first whistle, so the tri-pod was not set up to normal filming standard

4936 Kinlet Hall steams through Reading West June 08

Kinlet Hall steams through Reading West station on 23rd June 2008 with an empty stock movement from Merehead to Tyseley. Reading is a large town, in South East England, in the county of Berkshire. It lies at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet, midway between London and Swindon off the M4 motorway.

4936 5029 47773 'The Three Choirs Express' 4.10.08

On the 4.10.08, 4936 'Kinlet Hall' , 5029 'Nunney Castle' and 47773 D1775 shared the hauling duties for Past Time Rail's 'The Three Choirs Express' . Firstly, we see 4936 + 5029 through Droitwich Spa Station on 1Z63 09.27 Stourbridge Junction - Gloucester via Worcester Hereford and Newport. After my Rugby match with, coincedently Hereford, we see 47773 D1775 from a foot crossing in Copcut, outside of Droitwich, hauling 1Z64 16.40 Gloucester - Nottingham. Please enjoy. *Note* I apologise for the edited view of the carriages in the first clip due to VERY inconsiderate man who stood and talked throughout my shots. If I removed the black border, you would see him very cheekily looking at my camera, in full knowledge he was ruining my shot. I've given you a brief glance of his face, just to shame him! Ha! 4936 Kinlet Hall on Lincolnshire Poacher 18/7/09

4936 Kinlet Hall arrives at its destination Lincoln from Tyseley. Then it leaves for the yard. Then we see it trying to run round stock because back coach was so close to back points at one point the tender is practically almost touching back carriage. Finally it passes the carriage without collosion and heads for the triangle to be turned and then we finally see it after turning heading back to get watered and serviced.
4936 Kinlet Hall on Loco Movement 2/9/11

Postponed from last week due to a derailed freight train 4936 Kinlet Hall now in BR green finally made its move from Tyseley to Wansford on the Nene Valley Railway. We see the loco on the ECML just south of Peterborough station without support coach and then seen joining the NVR metals at Longville Junction. The loco is due to take starring roll in the lines steam gala next weekend alongside 71000. I was planning to see 30777 and 70013 later in the day but due to the locos causing linesides the locos were terminated at Newark
4936 Kinlet Hall storming through Henley-in-Arden 07/07/2011

GWR Hall 4936 Kinlet Hall on her test run at Henley-in-Arden following overhaul. From where I was standing I'd say she passes with flying colours! Also a sad shot for anyone who remembers the old box as the base disappears into the undergrowth. I have a gallery of the box and semaphores here campainr.webs.com I apologise for two things in this video, firstly the over-enthusiastic pan and secondly the poor picture in the most interesting part of the video as Kinlet's wheels flash past. I don't know what happened there as its OK in the original video. Hopefully however the sound makes up for these shortcomings. Welcome back Kinlet Hall!!! Thursday 7th July 2011
GWR KINLET HALL 4936

The Great Western Railway steam locomotive no. 4936 Kinlet Hall is a 4-6-0 Hall class locomotive, built in June 1929 at Swindon Works. It was withdrawn from service with British Railways in 1964 and sold for scrap to Woodham Brothers scrapyard in Barry, South Wales. Nearly twenty years later, in 1981, it was saved for preservation by the Kinlet Hall Locomotive Company and moved to Peak Rail at Matlock where restoration work began. It was moved to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway in 1985, followed by the Llangollen Railway in 1992. In 1996 it was moved to Tyseley Locomotive Works for final restoration. The locomotive returned to operational condition in February 2000, and following certification for main line operation it made several main line trips to various parts of the country sometimes in company with fellow Tyseley resident 4965 Rood Ashton Hall. It was on loan to its former home, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, for much of the 2004/2005 operating season. Kinlet Hall remained at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway for the start of the 2006 operating season before returning to Tyseley in the summer for a series of scheduled main line trips. However, due to circumstances entirely beyond the control of the engine's owners, only the trip on 1 July went ahead a memorable return excursion called "The Staffordshire Newsletter 100" to Holyhead.
