Taylor baritone guitars are designed for playing in a lower register with normal string tension, thanks to a longer 27-inch scale length. Tuned to B (BEADF# B), the deeper acoustic tone is voiced with the GS body shape and a wood combination of Indian rosewood with Sitka spruce. A great choice for singers with a lower vocal range or players who favor a detuned sound, the baritone is offered as either a 6-string or an 8-string with two added octave strings that expand the tonal range.

Schecter Hellcat VI

www.ProGuitarShop.com - The brain trust at Schecter has done it again with the Hellcat VI six string. Not a guitar, bass or even a baritone in today's terms, the Hellcat VI is designed to be an improvement of the 6-string bass instrument of the early 1960s used for those tick tack bass sounds made famous in Nashville studios. The 30 scale of the Hellcat VI is standard tuned, but one octave below a normal guitar. String gauges will range from .025 to .095 Built for the player whose is seeking a different voice but does not necessarily want to learn a new instrument, the Schecter Hellcat VI has a tone that will cut through any mix. The 3 Duncan MH-102 mini-humbuckers are designed to give more brightness than a regular humbucker and more fatness than a single coil. If you are a guitar player who likes to hang out in the bass range, this may be the perfect choice.

Seymour Duncan 6-String Bridge Pickups, 12 Model Comparison, Metal Rhythm

www.facebook.com www.keithmerrow.com This is like the "Nyancat" of guitar videos. Haha, sorry for the repetition. I'm just trying to give the most solid comparison that I can. Using the same guitar, same amp tone, same mix and eq, and same riffs, are the only way to do this accurately, IMO. All of these pickups would most likely sound great if I were to dial in the amp, according to how the pickup reacts to the guitar. But, for the sake of consistency, the amp settings are exactly the same on every clip so you can hear the tonal variations between them IN THIS GUITAR. Keep in mind- These pickups are all going to sound different depending on the guitar and amp you're using. A pickup that sounds good (or not good) in this guitar, might sound completely different in yours. The guitar used in this video has an extremely prominent midrange tone (almost to a fault). The baritone used here was rather picky! The result a couple of the models clearly aren't a good choice for this guitar. However, a few of them compliment the tone, nicely . This is the only correct way to play this song, you need a six string bass tuned like a guitar an octave lower. Perry used a Fender Bass VI, I'm using the Gretsch G5265 Baritone Dou Jet. This song is one of the great Bass VI songs, without a doubt. Perry was at his creative best when he came up with these riffs. I really had a zen problem focusing on this song, I guess I should have practiced before recording. There are many mistakes here, and near the end I have no idea what's going on. Still, I'm making this video public for now, I'll probably take it down latter.

The Lily of the Valley - as performed on a 6-string baritone ukulele by Jack Marti

Here's my rendition of that old classic gospel song by Charles W. Fry. Fry wrote the lyrics in Lincoln, England while working with the Salvation Army there. It first appeared in the Salvation Army's "War Cry" of December 29, 1881. The tune was adapted by Fry from a melody by William S. Hays. I have found a friend in Jesus, He's everything to me, He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul; The Lily of the Valley, in Him alone I see All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole. In sorrow He's my comfort, in trouble He's my stay; He tells me every care on Him to roll. Refrain He's the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star, He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul. He all my grief has taken, and all my sorrows borne; In temptation He's my strong and mighty tower; I have all for Him forsaken, and all my idols torn From my heart and now He keeps me by His power. Though all the world forsake me, and Satan tempt me sore, Through Jesus I shall safely reach the goal. Refrain He will never, never leave me, nor yet forsake me here, While I live by faith and do His blessèd will; A wall of fire about me, I've nothing now to fear, From His manna He my hungry soul shall fill. Then sweeping up to glory to see His blessèd face, Where the rivers of delight shall ever roll. Refrain

Texas Blues - Delta Blues - Slide guitar - 12 string guitar - Acoustic Blues

Slide Guitar and 12 string guitar, in the Key of E, we just messed around this day and recorded a bunch, as the next day I was going to be traveling for a few months, This is Blues man Trinity of Galveston Island in Texas playing the 12 string guitar an myself on slide guitar, sure was was fun, :-) we played every now and again at the open mics around the island from time to time, just a day from the past that got recorded, enjoy, the 6 string slide guitar is set up in open E and the 12 string is tuned to standard tuning of C# but is played in the 3rd position as if playing in G, which is really a E on that guitar, the 6 string taylor I adapted strings to pair the guitars to be easily played together, so when you would down tune a standard guitar to open G tuning, the same done on my taylor turns it into open E tuning, just some info for the curious.. hope you enjoy some of our Blues at the Moment of creation, has kind of a Muddy waters flavor to this blues style of Acoustic Texas Blues, Leadbelly style tuning on the 12 string, and a leo kottke specially set up for the six string with a custom set of strings on it, made it close to a baritone guitar, and could be dropped down to a baritone tuning if need be, it is what it is... a six string tuned to match a down tuned 12 string, :-) Peace, DSWhite

Rafi Kirder plays new Jerry Jones 6-string bass

Hi Folks, got me a spanking new Jerry Jones 6-string bass, this one is absolutely killer, I'm sooo glad Jerry Jones doesn't stop using modern guitar-technic knowledge like Gibson or Fender (still using outdated details invented 50 years ago), so we have a modern Gotoh bridge here instead of the common fixed bridge, and the trussrod is accsesible at the neckheel. a very modern feel, yet oldschool sound, thats what I'm after. I'm playing to my bands track "Blackwaters Ballad", the 6-track demo is available now, through Myspace / Facebook or at our gigs, check www.deathrope.ch.vu or www.myspace.com/deathropemusic PS: SORRY, my computer and my camera are anything but new, so the clip jumps a bit, and won't be in time, sowhat, enjoy anyway!

Schecter Hellcat VI Demo 5 / Funk Riff on High Strings / Sorry, Stevie.

Played at low volume over a small Peavy Standard PA with treble up and bass down. Not intended as a bass part. This is pretty much as funky as I can be. I've never tried to play this riff I attempt from "Superstitious" by Stevie Wonder, a VERY funky MF. His compouded funky riffs on that song are a sound to behold. I have heard 16 year olds who can play the sh!t outta some funk. I can't, but these videos are to show the versatility of the Hellcat VI or other EE short scale 6 string basses, what you might expect to be able to do for yourself, good or bad for your uses. I have viewed the other videos of the EE baritone guitars, and a few of you guys can pick these things just fine, I am still getting used to it, but it will help my 6 string guitar finger picking for sure.

The "Rock Ock" 8 Neck Guitar Performance of "Crossroads"

www.facebook.com There are dozens of "art guitars" with multiple necks that can never be played. It's just about the look for some of these creations. So, the NGM decided to go one further and create a guitar with 8 necks--more than any other in the world--that can actually be played. If you're going to make something like that, it should be real. We got 8 guys together to prove it. It wasn't easy, but we got through a few verses of "Crossroads" with every neck in full swing. See for yourself. Staind "Spleen" Cover

My guitar cover of the song "Spleen" by the band Staind from their debut album "Dysfunction." This song was originally written and played on a baritone guitar, but since I do not own a baritone I use my custom Baritone set of strings on my 6 string Dean. A 7-string and a baritone aren't the same, so to get the same thickness my bottom 3 strings are the 3 high strings from a 4-string bass (long scale neck) and the top 3 are from a 7 string (Heavy) pack. It's my favorite support for an ultimate low tuned guitar without having to afford a new guitar plus it stays in tune beautifully. All Ernie Ball.

The Baritone Guitar I'm building

Ok, so it's not pretty, my playing isn't great right now, but whatev'. Strings are on, everything is working, nothing broke under the tension and I really like the tone. If I wasn't so excited I would play better, but I'm actually shaking. Probably adrenaline. It's not done. It needs to be set up completely and properly. The nut was sanded too narrow, but I continued anyway and the string spacing is too close. I need another nut. I've got some buzzing that I'll deal with later, BUT I'm playing it!

God Only Knows - Beach Boys, Bass Cover

Playing along to "God Only Knows" - The Beach Boys, off of their album "Pet Sounds," which, as far as my tastes are concerned, just kills "Sgt. Pepper." After listening to this through the first time, you realize that this album influenced the feel and sound of pretty much all indie pop (at least in the states) that followed. My timing's a little bad in places, but you get the idea. As for instrumentation in the original, I think they were using a combination of upright and tic-tac bass (ie 6 string baritone guitar) doubling one another, for that really deep percussive sound. You can kind of nick that by palm muting and using a pick, or by using an actual mute under the strings, which is probably a little easier.

The guitar is tuned from B to B and features additional octave strings paired along with the third and fourth (D and A) strings. This feature gives players an extended range of sounds, without compromising tonal integrity or playability.

The Cure - Faith (Full Album)

Faith is the third album by British band The Cure, released in April 1981. Faith is generally a brooding, atmospheric, and sombre album, although it has a flash of anger in the form of the song "Doubt", and some edge in the driving single "Primary". It is often seen as the mid-point in a 'Dark Trilogy' that begins with Seventeen Seconds and ends with Pornography. At least two songs on the album, "All Cats are Grey" and "The Drowning Man", are inspired by the Gormenghast novels of Mervyn Peake. It is the first album by The Cure to feature baritone guitar/six-string bass. The front cover, designed by former and future member Porl Thompson, is a picture of Bolton Priory in the village of Bolton Abbey in the fog. "The Holy Hour" -- 00:00 "Primary" -- 04:25 "Other Voices" -- 08:01 "All Cats Are Grey" -- 12:27 "The Funeral Party" -- 17:51 "Doubt" -- 22:05 "The Drowning Man" -- 25:17 "Faith" -- 30:05 Robert Smith - guitar, keyboard, 6-string bass, bass, Vocals Simon Gallup - bass Lol Tolhurst - drums
