01 Allegro ma non troppo, un poco maestoso, Beethoven, Symphony 9/1/1 D minor Op 125 'Choral' Thielemann, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra The Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, is the final complete symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven. Completed in 1824, the symphony is one of the best known works of the Western classical repertoire, and has been adapted for use as the European Anthem. It is considered by critics to be one of Beethoven's masterpieces and one of the greatest musical compositions ever written. The symphony was the first example of a major composer using voices in a symphony (thus making it a choral symphony). The words are sung during the final movement by four vocal soloists and a chorus. They were taken from the "Ode to Joy", a poem written by Friedrich Schiller in 1785 and revised in 1803, with additions made by the composer. The title of Schiller's poem "An die Freude" is literally translated as "To Joy", but is normally called the "Ode to Joy". It was written in 1785 and first published the following year in the poet's own literary journal, Thalia. Beethoven had made plans to set this poem to music as far back as 1793, when he was 22 years old. Beethoven was eager to have his work played in Berlin as soon as possible after finishing it, since he thought that musical taste in Vienna was dominated by Italian composers such as Rossini. Police Misconduct - 911 operator hangs up on frightened teen because she curses.
This girl's father is having a seizure on the floor and the 911 operator hangs-up on her because she curses?! Aren't these people trained to deal-with callers who might be frightened or hysterical? Aren't they supposed to try to calm frantic callers and comfort them? This is what happens when you have a cop on the other-end of the line. He absolutely HAS to prove his point. He HAS to assert his authority over this frantic citizen. He actually hangs-up on her refusing to help because she cursed. When she calls back, HE curses at her! "Are you gonna swear again you stupid @ss b!tch?" Then when he finally calls emergency responders (another cop, not even an ambulance, even though she requested one at-least 4 times) he claims he couldn't ever find-out what the emergency was because he "couldn't get through her comments". WEIRD! I thought is was because he kept hanging-up on her. When she has to go to the station herself to get help they ARREST her! Unfortunately this attitude of "I'm always right, no-matter what, everyone should always respect me and do exactly what I tell them to!" is WAY too prevelent amongst our police forces. This guy was stuck in the tower while calling. He kept trying to get some support from the emergency services, but they did not be really helpful except try to calm him down. There are some other 911 tapes from two callers in the towers, since the Moussaoui Trial. I uploaded the full tape so you can hear the whole call, even if it sounds long, you could guess it would even sound longer to that guy.

Assemblymember Torres Honors 9-1-1 Dispatchers
(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Norma Torres (D-Pomona) paid tribute to the 9-1-1 Dispatchers who staff and operate our states 9-1-1 system with the introduction of Assembly Concurrent Resolution 37 (ACR 37) which memorializes the week beginning on April 12, 2009 as California Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. For many of us, the 9-1-1 call IS our first point of contact with emergency services. During an emergency, we depend on the 9-1-1 dispatcher to figure out what we need, where we are, and how to get us an ambulance, a police officer or a fire engine as fast as possible. Torres stated. Assemblymember Torres also outlined legislation she introduced to improve the 9-1-1 system in California: AB 423 to deal with 9-1-1 dispatcher training, AB 424 to deal with the disclosure of cell phones 9-1-1 capabilities, and AB 912 to deal with funding for modernization of the 9-1-1 system.
