This is my new video editing / gaming PC setup with the new 6 core (12 logical cores with hyper threading) Intel i7 980x. This is 100% custom build with an Alienware ALX 2.1 case. Setup as follows: Motherboard: ASUS P6X58D Premium CPU: 6 core Intel Pentium i7 980x (12 cores Hyper-threaded) PSU: Corsair 750 Modular RAM: 12GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz GPU: 2x nVidia GTX 285 Main HDs: 2x Kingston V+ 128GB SSD Case: Alienware - ordered from Best Custom PC - YES you can order them brand new - CASE ONLY for those that like the design. I chose the gaming cards over workstation cards mainly because you get a lot more for your money. I don't do a lot of 3D rendering so they work just fine. I have never overclocked before, and am a little hesitant to do so. I just gave this one a tiny nudge to a little over 3.7GHz, but I really didn't know what I was doing so I stopped there. I know these things shuld be able to go a little over 4GHz with stock cooling, but I have a lot to learn to get it that far. The temps shown in the video are a little high. Ambient temperatures in the room were at 84F at the time. At the time of recording I also had forgotten to plug in power to the LED module which also powers the case fan over the GPUs. That has since been fixed and today with room temperatures at 75F the CPU runs at 26C-28C with normal PC use, and rarely goes over 40 when using an NLE or a couple test games. Ok guys. I am not done with my final build even though I worked about 9 hours on it the last two days. I finally have (4) watercooled GTX480s up and running and WOW, what a difference in temperatures and noise! I was somewhat dissapointed when I first bought the GTX480s, but the GPU waterblocks by Koolance are magnificent. All my GPUs idle in the low 30s and when playing games or normal benchmarking they don't get higher then 60C! That is very impressive. I've been having some problems running FURMARK though. It keeps popping my breaker --as I have a refrigerator and other BIG stuff on the same circuit, so I will be changing that. After 7mins in FURMARK before the breaker meltdown, the highest GPU temperature I saw was 74C. Again, very amazing, since these darn things ran in the high 90s with simple tasks before. My build: I am not going to be doing a review of my build just yet, because right now I am using the EVGA 4-Way SLI board, but will be swapping that out for the EVGA SR-2 --as soon as I can purchase one!!! Here is a gameplay video of METRO 2033. The gameplay is from the 'Child' level where the hero picks up a child and helps him escape. He is on my back the entire time. (Which I think is a little silly, why wouldn't he run next to you) Anyway the game is played at 1920 x 1200 resolution with most everything set to the highest level except for DOF (Depth of Field) set to off. The game plays pretty well. The game overall is 'ok.' I was really hoping for something a little better. The gameplay is very, very linear. you can't go back to places you've been and you can't re-visit shops to buy stuff. The game is pretty much centered around scavaging, which may be realistic given the setting. I only spent about 25 hrs to get through the game and I feel like I went slowly. Overall, I give the game a B+. Enjoy!
