The Aleph take their name from the Jorge Luis Borges short story of the same name. According to the story, the Aleph is "the place where, without any possible confusion, all the places in the world are found, seen from every angle...it has the form of a man who points out heaven and earth, to indicate that the inferior world is the mirror and map of the superior." Feeding off the inspiration of Borges' story, and led by the musical and production talents of the Dreamtigers, The Aleph set out to bring these concepts to the world of music. Inspired by enigmatic samples of mall ambience and trainyard mischief, Live From Northpark Mall is an electronic pop album that blurs the boundaries between abstract glitches and fashionable modern pop. I had to upload this a second time. The first rendition of the video had some pieces out of order.... so here it is, my first Infinity Batrep. Mistakes made in the army lists: -Haqqislam has 4 points of special weapons (only 3 allowed in a 150 point list) -Aleph list has 2 myrmidon officers (only 1 can be used in an army list) These are relatively minor issues though, so I thought- just post the video. Pretty informative as Ian was okay with me filming the entire thing and we go into discussion of the whats and the whys of the game.

For those of you who didn't know, Bungie created the Marathon trilogy as the Mac's answer to Doom. These were the first ever FPS games to feature dual-wield weapons and multiplayer voice chat, as well as a deep single player story. Of course, Bungie are now known as the creators of the Halo franchise, and there are a lot of similarities and references to Marathon in the Halo games that may interest Halo fans, although they are two distinct series. The best part is, Marathon is now completely freeware and runs fine on PCs and Macs. Check the link at the end of the video if you're interested. The piece is realized starting from multiple recordings of a huge gong. The gong sounds are multiplied, elaborated and mounted at the computer. The basic idea is to realize an orchestral and polyphonic composition using an instrument that if played live could hardly build a complex texture of sounds. Sounds are grouped in different families of timbres and transformed to reach all frequency registers. Inside a family, sounds are organized in masses of sound particles from 1 to 10000 per second. The distribution of particles, the density, the superimposition, the overall and single durations, the transposition, the direction of the masses are controlled by the composer. The masses are are treated as orchestral families of instruments to realize a polyphony of musical layers. In the course of the piece, vocal sounds (whispered or sung) gradually come out. They are realized modifying the gong sounds with 5 filters simulating the resonances of the mouth. The gong seems to whisper or sing as an individual or as a choir. The sound spatialization is also important, single sounds, masses, impulses or continuous sounds are putted in the space dynamically or statically. They have their own life in space. The piece is realized entirely in CSound without any further <b>...</b>

This is my notion about the ALEPH, or as i called it for a long time now - Singularity. A point where everything is present, and the present is everything. Where a one point is everything and everything is one point. Every fraction of the Universe can be seen perfectly. A sensation of absolute tranquility. For me this point (Aleph) is in the heart of a Black Hole, one of the most mysterious forces in the visible universe AND a window to the NOT visible one & other dimensions .The place that still retains its true nature. No scientist knows where does it leads, but one thing is for sure - without it the universe would not be the same. Although it is violent, it is constructing as well. Therefore it is the necessary "evil" if it can be said that way (there is a Supermassive Black Hole in the heart of EVERY Galaxy). At this point the negative emotions vanish leaving us with the joy of gazing the wonderful making of our Creator! This video also represents the macro Universe around us and the micro Universe IN us.
