Over 20000 people have gathered in Honolulu, Hawaii to be a part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. Tomorrow 21 countries will meet to discuss key economic issues in the Asia-Pacific region. In this version Makana tells the FULL STORY as well as sings the full version of the song, "We Are The Many." Makana's guitar tech shot this with a camera phone during his performance for the World Leaders Dinner at APEC, which was hosted by the First Family. Makana wore an "Occupy with Aloha" t-shirt under his black blazer and sang his newest song, "We are the Many," an anthem of sorts for Occupy protestors. He had to be extremely discreet as Secret Service had warned those on site that any phones used to capture photography or video would be confiscated. Since the technician has a guitar tuner app on the phone they were able to justify having it out, but grabbing video was not easy. They were under constant surveillance. Makana likes to have video of his every performance saying, "It's my art and my right." About an hour into his set of generally ambient guitar music and Hawaiian tunes, he felt inspired to share some songs that resonated with the significance of the occasion. He sang a few verses from "Kaulana Na Pua" (a famous Hawaiian protest song in honor of the anniversary of our Queen's passing), then segued into Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower," Sting's "Fragile," and finally his newest song "We Are The Many." (CNN) A Hawaiian guitarist (Makana) reveals an "Occupy with Aloha" shirt and song at an APEC gala dinner.
Over the weekend more than 20000 individuals gathered in Honolulu, Hawaii to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. China was a hot topic at the summit and protesters gathered outside to show their opposition for the country. Also President Obama said the US will continue cultivating a constructive relationship with China, but will continue to be firm that they operate by the same rules. Here is RT's report.

www.democracynow.org - As President Obama met with world leaders this weekend at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting in Hawaii to discuss how to bolster global trade, activists with the group Occupy Honolulu protested economic inequity that they say would result from new trade agreements. Meanwhile, within the heavily guarded compound where the summit took place, renowned Hawaiian musician and guitarist Makana carried out his own act of protest. Makana had been invited to play instrumental music at the gala dinner Saturday night. At the dinner, Makana opened his jacket to reveal a t-shirt which read, "Occupy with Aloha." Then instead of performing the background instrumental he was scheduled to play, he started to sing a protest song he had released earlier that day. As world leaders, including Obama and Chinese Premier Hu Jintao, sat in the audience, Makana sang his new song inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement, "We are the Many." "I started out very subtlety and subliminally, and I was like, 'ye come here, gather on stage. The time has come for us to voice our rage,'" Makana says. "Then I realized that, 'Wow!
