Welcome to my intro of tests on the PA M3 style red dot optic. What started this idea was the simple claim of PA stating this was a weapons grade optic. What exactly is a weapons grade optic? I have been using this sight on my Smith and Wesson M&P15-22 for 1.5-2 years with abosultly zero problems or failures. Does that qualify this as weapons grade? Even though its just a measly .22 long rifle it is still a weapon after all. So in a way I guess my answer would be yes this is a weapons grade optic. But that wasnt good enough for me, I wanted to know if this 70.00 dollar optic (70 bucks includes a low mount, a 15 dollar stand alone purchase) would stand up to some recoil that was more "manly". Enter my Rem 870 and S&W 629 Stealth Hunter, while not the most powerful weapons to roam the earth they still pack a pretty big punch. The only down side I have found with my particular PA red dot is the 3 MOA dot really isnt a dot, but come on for 70 bucks with a mount how picky can you be! So far after 14 rounds of 2 3/4 8 shot 12 gauge, 10 rounds of 2 3/4 12 gauge 00Buck, plus 18 rounds of .44 Mag this little winner is still batting 100. The 870 will be the long term test bed for the M3 as .44 mag is just to expensive to shoot a ton of. Stay tuned for more updates. Dishy I hope I brought back some fond memories for you brother.
