The construct of this board was influenced by the late (Sonny Umpad) via: Christopher Charnos- a student of Sonny Umpad many years ago. This was designed to work balance, precision, and low-gait evasions. Dancin' on 2X4's are simple and effective tools to educate the feet for closing and evading techniques. This six foot frame took some time to get practiced on the board, but now it's time to dance!

The journey continues with bodyweight strength work that started back on 5-4-09. Check the previous clips of Six Months, and One Year. I'd like to repay my respects to Ido and Yuval, brothers in training and my inspiration. Enjoy- Steve

This is a short segment of my cool-down series after my training (legs and hips). I am a firm believer of daily work in flexibility. My martial arts, yoga, and other physical expressions of exercise demand supple muscles and tendons to keep this body from breaking down.

Here's a little handstand work, and a glimpse at some of the stahl bar work that I continue to work on. It was exactly 8 months ago that I was introduced to handstanding by Ido Portal. He has started me on this new 'path' of challenges- for that, I am sincerely grateful. Ido, you are my brother and I cannot wait for your visit again to Spokane, WA! Yuval Ayalon, has been absolutely instrumental in my continued development of handstanding and flag work. I know there's a lot of work left (years still), but your inspiration and teaching makes it fun my friend. Six days a week (without fail) in handstanding and strength practice- it is my religion, and I love it. Thank you so much coach for all of your self-less teachings, tips, and support. I will always honor what you've taught me.

This is basically a modified pull-up, using the rings. It has emphasis on the negative (lowering) portion of the movement. Keeping (on the negative) the hands supinated, and the elbows inward next to the body creates an enormous tension to the biceps tendons. I like this exercise for virtually any exercise that uses elbow flexion. I also perform this negative with the hands in a pronated grip to really load the brachialis, and brachio-radialis muscle tendons. Any way, have fun with it!!

This is simply a continuation of the many projects I'm working on: One arm handstand, reverse planche handstand, many different pulling variations (including very heavy negatives on pull-ups), progression towards the iron-cross etc,. This was just a little sample of some of the stuff I train- but certainly not all that I train. As always, I like to honor the people who have made invaluable contributions to my progress: Ido Portal, on many body weight strength applications- Ido has really been the genesis of my 'physical-rebirth'. Yuval Ayalon, has been unwavering in his support in my handbalancing work, among other things. Yuvals handstand mentoring has allowed my handstand practice to progress at a rate I hadn't thought possible. As my toughest critique, there is much left to do. I hope you enjoy this short clip. Thanks, Steve

The following compilation is but a few of the exercises that Sam Lewis trains at Atlas Training Systems. It is not all that this very talented young man trains in- but just a start of the movements he just began over the last year. Great things are in the future of this athlete!!

This is the beginning of my interest in Corde Lisse. I want to familiarize myself with strength necessary to allow the technical elements to flow as they are taught to me. Being the beginning of a new challenge, there will be other clips to follow in the progression of this craft. Enjoy.
