Anchorage Ted Stevens International (PANC) one of the most important airports in Alaskas and destination of many national and international flight connections. Beside asian and russian airlines also from Frankfurt fly german Condor and the switzerland airline Edelweiß from ZRH in the month may to september to Anchorage. There probably is no place on the globe where aviation is as important as in Alaska. In this great state roads are scarce and limited to the major cities. The vast wilderness can only be reached by aircraft. Often only by floatplane or small aircraft equipped for off airport landings. And Anchorage International Airport 'Ted Stevens' is at the center of much of this aviation. It is in many ways a remarkable airport. Not only does is the main connection to the other US states (a connection mainly flown by Alaska Airlines 737 in their characteristic livery) and as a hub for intercontinental flights, it is also a bush airport with a large dirt strip for the small planes that do not really like concrete and tarmac. It even has one of the largest seaplane bases in the world on Lake Hood that's located next to the airport. Add the violent weather and the long hours of darkness in the winter and you end up with an airport that is in all way remarkable and well worth a superb rendering for Flight Simulator. It was a pleasure to do this video, me being a native New Yorker and having been inside of the World Trade Center on numerous occasions. I hope you too will enjoy this video. I was in the Navy when this song came out in 1986 I believe and my ship pulled into Korea (Pusan). While there I stopped at an Army base and went to one of their stores and happened to see the video of this song with David Sanborn playing his Sax on a roof top in Manhattan. All airports are developed according to their actual status with all buildings, objects installments and navigational aids representing the real life airports. So it was logical to move this product to FSX. * The FS2004 version is included in the Box/CD-Version only! As always we done so with care so all the new features of FSX are being used. We also combined both the Seahawks & Boxer and the Coast Guard version and added 4 more highly detailed ships. To make it easy for you we also created a tool that allows you to use Google Earth (!) to place the ships in any location you like. The helicopter is easy to fly (as the real one is), you will be in the air in minutes, but it will take many hours before you have mastered all the systems that are simulated in this helicopter. Created with assistance from several Seahawk pilots we are sure the advanced systems work as they are in the real helicopter. The PZL-104 Wilga 35A is a remarkable aircraft. It was designed in the early 1960's and it took many evisions before the developers got to the version that became a standard aircraft on many Eastern European airfields. After the collapse of the Berlin Wall many of the Wilga's found new homes in Western countries where they still work like the reliable and sturdy aircraft the designers had in mind. If you are only used to Cessna's or other western GA aircraft the Wilga is a bit of a shock. It's far larger then it seems to be from a distance. It also looks weird with the long undercarriage and the huge engine and propeller. Flying the Wilga is also something special. It is totally utilitarian, a bit slow (drag is as huge as the engine is) and it feels like a much larger aircraft. But it is totally dependable, very easy to fly and you can land on a dime. It can even take up three (!) gliders at the same time. It's special, it's something else, it's the PZL 104 Wilga. Our version for FSX is created with the latest standards by the OctopusG group. Both the seaplane base as the airport got hangar space for visitors and for larger aircraft based on Andras Field. The project is very much intended to cater for all kinds of FSX flying. There is a lot to explore at Andras Field and the near surroundings, even after you used it for a long time you will still find new animations and new objects (also because the project will be updated very regular). Just pick a new parking or a new taxi route and you are bound to see new stuff. Andras Field is also the place where our internal developers will test out new ideas and technologies. For example in this first edition we have used MoCap (Motion Capture) to show a whole new kind of animation. From people having an heated argument to people that are dancing. The simple and rugged aircraft is able to take off from very short runways (or roads) and can loiter for a long time over an area. The Bronco has its roots deep in the 1960s when most military aircraft were getting bigger, more complex and above all faster. These aircraft did not work well in harsh conditions found in jungles and even on carrier decks. The OV-10 Bronco was the opposite. It was simple and rugged and could land on grass fields and even carriers. These days their fighting role is over but they are popular aircraft at airshows where their unusual layout and smooth aerobatics make them welcome guests. Of course, as the rest of Greece, it has a long, often bloody and very rich history that is clearly visible all over the island. Ioannis Kapodistrias International Airport is a typical holiday airport. Off season it's quiet with just a few flights every day while in the holiday season (and certainly on Monday and Friday) the airport is running at full capacity. The runway is built in a small bay and the approach from the south is spectacular as some of the best known landmarks are only a few hundred meters away. Though weather conditions are seldom a problem, wind can be an issue as it flows around and over the mountains that are close to the airport. In high summer turbulence can be severe close to the ground. As the runway has no ILS, all approaches are visual and certain the VOR DME NDB approach to runway 35 is not easy. LiVEinFSX modeled this airport using the latest insights in scenery design. But what makes this a special project is not the technology but the keen eye for detail and obvious love for the Greek islands that is clearly visible. It`s in the rather exclusive class of touring motor gliders; aircraft that are a cross between motor aircraft and gliders. They got the long wings of a glider but a standard (though often rather small) aircraft engine. You can either use them as a normal aircraft or switch off the engine and glide for a while. Truth be told, most of them are not brilliant in either capacity but all of them have special characteristics. You will need a few hours to get fully acquainted with the Dimona. But after those hours you will have found a new friend. Because it might not be the best motor aircraft and certainly not the most efficient glider, but it most certainly has character. You will love it quirks and peculiarities as it is truly entertaining to fly. There has never been a high quality motor glider for MS Flight Simulation. And this one is certainly high end. At the base of the product is one of the most detailed flight/engine models ever done for FSX. Accurate down to the altitude you lose in a spin. The aircraft is meticulously modeled and has superb non-standard animations. Though there are not that many systems, those that are included are programmed with great depth. The C4 Flight Computer alone needs dozens of pages in the manuals! Where FSX poses limitations the developers simply did not use the FSX options and programmed their own system. In association with www.siminsider.com Commissioned by the US Navy as a long-range Patrol Bomber and built by Consolidated Aircraft, the Catalina's exceptional reliability and endurance found it co-opted into a multitude of roles for which it was never designed. This included commercial passenger services, and towards the end of WWII Qantas operated a fleet of five Catalinas over the Indian Ocean in a service that to this day holds the endurance record for any commercial passenger service. From 1943 to 1945 the Qantas cats made a total of 271 crossings between Perth and Columbo, and trips took from 28 to 32 hours. Qantas withdrew their Catalinas in 1958 and all were subsequently scrapped, but in 2009 the Qantas Foundation Memorial Trust acquired an airworthy Catalina in Madrid and set about flying it to Longreach, in Outback Queensland, where it will eventually share the tarmac with a Qantas Boeing 747 and Boeing 707 at the Qantas Founders' Outback Museum. Aerosoft's Catalina for FSX has been a long time coming, but it was worth the wait. It conveys a beautiful and intricately-crafted impression of all the main Catalina variants, in a collection of authentic civil and military liveries.
