Royal Danish Army in Afganistan
The Royal Danish Army is the land warfare branch of the Military of Denmark, together with the Danish Home Guard. For the last decade, the Royal Danish Army has undergone a massive transformation of structures, equipment and training methods, abandoning its traditional role of anti-invasion defence, and instead focusing on out of area operations by, among other initiatives, reducing the size of the conscripted and reserve components and increasing the active (standing army) component, changing from 60% support structure and 40% operational capability, to 60% combat operational capability and 40% support structure. When fully implemented, the Danish Army will be capable of deploying 1500 troops permanently on three different continents continuously, or 5000 troops for a shorter period of time, in international operations without any need for extraordinary measures such as parliamentary approval of a war funding bill.

According to the UN, Afghanistan supplies in 2006 some 92 percent of the world's supply of opium, which is used to make heroin. The UN estimates that for 2006, the contribution of the drug trade to the Afghan economy is of the order of 2.7 billion. What it fails to mention is the fact that more than 95 percent of the revenues generated by this lucrative contraband accrues to business syndicates, organized crime and banking and financial institutions. A very small percentage accrues to farmers and traders in the producing country. Narcotics: Second to Oil and the Arms Trade The foregoing estimates are consistent with the UN's assessment concerning the size and magnitude of the global drug trade. The Afghan trade in opiates (92 percent of total World production of opiates) constitutes a large share of the worldwide annual turnover of narcotics, which was estimated by the United Nations to be of the order of $400-500 billion. Este es el video de los ataques a la ISAF y las fuerzas de Seguridad de la OTAN en Kabul, Afganistán. Fuerzas Nacionales de Seguridad afganas, apoyadas por fuerzas de la coalición, concluyó con éxito una operación de esta mañana contra un pequeño grupo de insurgentes que atacaron varias sedes en la ciudad de Kabul. Los insurgentes atacaron la Fuerza de Seguridad Internacional de Asistencia para Afganistán y la sede de la Embajada de EE.UU. en Kabul el martes con fuego de armas pequeñas desde fuera de la zona de seguridad alrededor de estos compuestos. Se trata de una producción que narra la odisea vivida en Korengal por soldados de Estados Unidos. Considerado uno de los destinos de guerra más peligrosos, el remoto valle de Korengal al este de Afganistán sirvió de base a un grupo de hombres que lideraban el frente americano en la zona. El valle fue abandonado por los militares en abril de 2010, sin embargo, a finales de 2007, casi una quinta parte del combate en Afganistán se estaba produciendo en el Korengal.
