Done is April 2009 in Long Beach, CA. This removal wasn't terrible, it just made me wear more protective gear than normal to reduce the stinging. Even through my gloves, after several hours, my hands looked like I had been dethorning cactus with my bare hands all day. Luckily I don't react to the venom anymore, otherwise after 20-30 stings I'd be look like the Michelin Man.

More of the same, without me talking. I realized on the last video that I'm sounding more and more like Richard Dreyfuss. Anyhow, you can see that they aren't all attacking at once, even though hundreds are on me at the time. This doesn't make removals impossible, but it at least doubles the time it takes to removal everything. In addition they aggressively make more comb/brood so there is more to remove even though they've only been there a short time.
Here is the inside, unfortunately only my pictures really do it any justice. ALWAYS bring a digital camera with you, even though it will get sticky. I thought I was just about done when I took a picture and found I had a bucket worth of comb hidden below where I couldn't see in the wall. With AHBees there is almost always more brood than honey laying around. With European Honey Bees there is either a healthy mix or more honey than brood. It all depends on the time of year for thos generalizations to be true.

By the afternoon almost all of them were gone. The peppermint extract and water have worked to keep them gone, for now.

I took this video to illustrate the reason why we wear light colored clothing. At some point in history it is believed that honey bees have been ingrained with the instinctual/behavioral reaction to attack dark colored clothing when their hive is upset. This is believe to be due to normal coloring found in the main mammalian predators, such as bears and skunks. Wearing light colored clothing will not render you invisible, but you will get less of an attack force flying around you than if you were wearing dark blue.

yesterday i watched a grasshopper jump and land in a spiderweb. immediately a black widow popped out from a hole in my front porch. she pounced on the insect and tried to make sure that it was trapped. i eventually freed the grasshopper from it's webbed clutches. but i think that it was paralyzed on his left side. then i mason jarred the black widow. before it met demise. i gave her one last meal. a honey bee. which she immdeiately quaffed, it's liquidy insides. leaving behind. a hollow shell. an exo skeleton. my apologies for the generic music. my pc doesn't edit video so i had to choose from youtube's list of crap songs. my first choice would have been - space "the female of the species" and my second choice for music would have been "spider" by tmbg.
