Future of Organic Food and Agriculture at Risk with Mark Kastel

On the Monday, November 21 edition of Infowars Nightly News, host Mike Adams talks with Mark Kastel of the Cornucopia Institute about its effort to counter the organized attack on organic farming and a new push to allow dangerous chemicals to be considered organic. www.cornucopia.org www.infowars.com www.prisonplanet.tv www.naturalnews.com Use of Synthetic Preservatives, Genetically Mutated Ingredients and Weak Animal Welfare Standards Headed for Vote by USDA Panel Cornucopia, WI—The Cornucopia Institute, one of the nation's leading organic industry watchdogs, is urging members of the USDA's National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), in formal testimony, to vote to preserve the integrity of organic food and farming at its upcoming meeting in Savannah, Georgia. Some of the hot button issues on the agenda, including using artificial preservatives and genetically modified ingredients, would seem Orwellian to many longtime organic farmers and consumers. The forecasted dustup will be debated by a USDA panel, deeply divided between corporate agribusiness representatives and organic advocates.

Agriculture is under Pressure

To keep pace with population growth it is estimated that in the next 40 years food production must equal the amount produced over the last 12000 years, and it must be achieved in the face of climate change, limited land, water and fossil fuels. Through plant breeding the seed industry represented by the International Seed Federation (ISF), has met and will continue to meet the challenge of increasing agricultural production.

Dollar, Bernanke, NIA's agriculture pump & dump stock revealed

Schiff Report Video Blog July 21st 2011 Note: On Friday July 22nd GRO opened at 1.58 (high of the day) and closed at 1.09 (low of the day was 1.07). Volume was heavy at just under 3.5 million shares. Average daily volume over past 90 days is 155000 (including today and yesterday's near 2 million shares as some NIA members apparently front ran the trade based). This is typical pump an dump action. NIA members who paid $1000 to get the name of this stock and rushed to buy it at the open (440000 shares traded in first five minutes) are already down over 30% on their investment plus the thousand bucks they paid for the "suggestion." On the other hand Lebed and Adams made a killing. My guess is that they bought their shares for around 90 cents over the past two weeks and unloaded their entire position today. This profit is in addition to the $1000 dollars they collected from each of their victims for the privilege of getting ripped off! Are you following any of this SEC?

Agriculture and Nutrition

It is universally agreed that child undernutrition is a major problem. Malnourished children are more susceptible to disease. Looking further along their lives, malnutrition will also lower their learning capacities, thus compromising their futures, perpetuating a generational cycle of poverty and malnutrition, with severe consequences on both individuals and nations. This is why agriculture is so important. Because no matter how it is defined, nutrition starts with what we eat. (c) FAO www.fao.org. Email for comments: chiara.deligia@fao.org

Chương trình học tiếng Anh của VOA: Special English Agriculture Report - Russian Beef / American Rancher. Xin hãy vào www.youtube.com để xem các bài kế tiếp. This is the VOA Special English Agriculture Report. Twenty years ago, when the Soviet Union collapsed, so did beef production in Russia. Breeding and management programs for beef cattle fell apart. Today, Russia imports much of its beef. Cattle are raised mostly for dairy. Instead of beef, Russians have expanded poultry and pork operations. These are faster and less costly to start. But there is some new investment in beef production. And one of those involved is an American rancher and cowboy named Darrell Stevenson. He sees plenty of room for growth -- Russia's beef herd is less than one percent the size of the American herd. He says there is "tremendous opportunity" in Russia in terms of resources and available ground. In late two thousand ten, Darrell Stevenson began sending cows, bulls, horses and equipment to Russia. He sent more than fourteen hundred animals. About a third of them traveled by ship. The others came by plane. Mr. Stevenson has two Russian partners in what they call the Stevenson-Sputnik Ranch. The ranch is located on almost six thousand hectares of land in Voronezh in the black earth area of southern Russia. The Angus and Hereford cattle came from ranches in his home state of Montana. The imported cows have given birth to their first calves. He says: "We are helping establish a local beef herd ...

Israel Cultivates Desert Agriculture

For more news visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ facebook.com There's a prevailing thought that says that it's hard to establish agriculture in the desert. But that's not necessarily so as our Israeli correspondent discovers in a visit to Southern Israel. When mentioning the desert, one thinks of dryness, heat and desolation. But it turns out that the desert can bloom, be full of life, and yield harvests of fine fruits and vegetables. [ Raz Arbel, Director, Ramat Negev Tours:) "actually if you think about desert as desert, you probably think there is no water, but we find a huge aquifer under the desert which allowed us to use it and actually we can pump it out and make the desert bloom or green with a lot of agriculture." It turns out the desert climate is good for agriculture, thanks to the ground water under the sand dunes. [Raz Arbel, Director, Ramat Negev Tours] "It's possible to do a lot of agriculture in the desert, because few reasons. First, we have the perfect weather for agriculture. We can grow vegetables in the winter, which is really hard to do in the center or the north of Israel. Second, we have the experience and the brackish water that will allow us to that in easy way. So, agriculture in the desert it's not opposite, it's really combined together very well." Although the groundwater is somewhat salty, it turns out that this saltiness actually improves the fruit. The Real Reason Why All The Bees Have Been Dying www.gizmodo.com.au What's crazy is how these bees die: "One perverse twist of colony collapse that has compounded the difficulty of solving it is that the bees do not just die -- they fly off in every direction from the hive, then die alone and dispersed."

Animal Agriculture - The Facts

www.suprememastertelevision.com crisis2peace.org ANIMAL AGRICULTURE: THE FACTS VOICE: In 2006, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) had estimated that raising animals for meat and dairy was responsible for 18% of global warming; more than all the worlds transportation put together. However, it is becoming increasingly clear to scientists that the livestock industry is playing a more significant role. Dr. Rajendra Pachauri Chair of United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, VEGETARIAN (M): Ive received a number of emails from people that I respect saying that the 18% figure is an underestimate; its a low estimate and in actual fact its much higher. Dr. T. Colin Campbell Renowned nutrition researcher, Cornell University, USA, VEGAN (M): I just had some information just recently, that the new figures now indicate that at least half of the greenhouse gases that are up there now, not that 15 or 20%, at least half and maybe considerably more are due to livestock production. VOICE: Greenhouse gasses are emitted during virtually every step of the meat producing process, including the three major greenhouse gasses: carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, & methane. However, what is unaccounted for is the fact that instead of the 23 times figure used in most reports, including that of the United Nations, methane is actually 72-100 times more potent than CO2 over a 20-year period.
