Well 7 g of Li and 130 g of Cs contain about the same number of nuclei. Now you could just do the experiment of dunking both of these into water, and seeing which generates the most heat. Its a little impractical due to the cost of cesium. The violence of the reaction probably wouldnt be that big of a problem. Cesium melts at almost room temperature, so you just put it in a syringe and inject it into water. However one of the nice things about chemistry is that it allows us to calculate things. In this case we can calculate the relative energy of Cs and Li dissolving in water. Li(m) + H2O = Li+(aq) +.5H2 +OH-(aq) Cs(m) + H2O = Cs+(aq) +.5H2 +OH-(aq) Well as we are doing a comparison, there are components that are energetically equivolent in both these equations so we can cancel them. Li(m) = Li+(aq) To calculate this we need to know three values, the energy to atomize the metal, the energy to strip an electron off it, and the energy to dunk that atomized ion into water at infinite dilution. Thankfully chemists are nerdy types and all these values are known. Put the numbers in and you find that Li(m) and Cs(m) reacting with water are virtually energetically identical. How to make iodine from an Alkali metal iodide, hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide. Warning: This reaction makes small amounts of chlorine gas and should be performed outside or in a fumehood. Check this new volume and measure out five times more 3%hydrogen peroxide. Mix together the two solutions and let stand for ten minutes. Filter the iodine. Make Iodine from Sulfuric acid and Alkali Metal Iodide
How to make elemental iodine from sulfuric acid and sodium or potassium iodide. Warning: Reaction must be done outside or in a fumehood due to production of toxic gases including hydrogen sulfide. First, get your sodium or potassium iodide and completely dissolve it in a minimum of water. Then place it into an ice bath to keep it cold. Second, add concentrated sulfuric acid directly to the solution and constantly stir. As you add it will produce iodine. At first the mixture will become pasty and eventually liquefy. Once it's liquefied, pour it directly into cold water (the ice bath itself is useful for this) and stir it up. Then let it settle for ten minutes or so. The iodine will settle to the bottom so pour off the water and acid. The iodine will still be contaminated with acid so you'll need to add water and pour off several times to get out most of the acid. Filter it and now you have a solid plug of iodine. It's usable as-is for most purposes but you can purify by placing it in a beaker with a ice-filled round bottom flask on top. Then heat the beaker. The iodine will vaporize and deposit on the flask. A cool reaction is to take some iodine and pour magnesium powder over it. It will react to form a purple cloud of iodine vapor. If it doesn't react quickly enough, just add a drop of water. In the second 3.5g sodium. The kit as 2 'fail safes'. The first is the wires that hold the metal on the needle, the second is the card that prevents the metal from dropping into the water. The metals themselves are almost facile to handle WITH DRY HANDS. Touch these with wet hands and you are in a world of hurt, and to be honest it really won't make much difference if you wear gloves or not. The metals will within second be at a few hundred degrees C and will melt through gloves like they werent there. Thats why my preference is to handle these metals with bare hands. You can always tell if your hands are wet. You cannot always tell if your gloves are wet. However with dry hands the reacting is facile. The faceshield is just a tertiary precaution given the propensity of these metals to explode in water and throw around burning metal at almost 1000C. This was just the prototype testing. 2 grams of potassium will generate about half a liter of hydrogen. 4 grams of sodium will generate about 2 liters of hydrogen. The jug holds about 3 liters.

Bulldozers puncture drums of toxic waste at Alkali Lake, Oregon
In the late 1960's, a chemical company made Agent Orange and decided to park the manufacturing waste in the middle of the Oregon desert. 25000, 55 gallon barrels full of toxic waste were placed at Alkali Lake, left to evaporate into the air and leak onto the desert floor. By the time the Oregon DEQ took control of the site in 1976, 50% of the contents had already leaked out. The agency chose to deal with it by bulldozing the barrels into 12 unlined trenches, burying it and putting a fence around it. This video shows that. Alkali Metals - Lithium and Sodium
Sorry about the low audio volume, still working out the kinks in this nightmare that is video conversions and editing. Here I compare the reactivity of two alkali (group 1) metals, Lithium and Sodium. Generally, reactivity increases as you go down a group in the periodic table, so since sodium is directly under lithium it will be more reactive. Lithium is the lightest metal, and has the atomic number 3. Sodium is directly below it, having an atomic number of 11. Both are very shiny when freshly cut, but will tarnish rapidly in air. Both are extremely soft and can be easily cut with a knife. Interestingly, lithium is one of the very few materials that will react with nitrogen (N2) under standard conditions. This forms the black lithium nitride, Li3N, which is why my sample turned black unlike the sodium, which forms only the white hydroxide NaOH.
