Meeting Alok Hsu Kwang-han, a Zen Calligraphic Painting Master in Sedona, AZ
I was honored to be invited by Zen painting and calligraphy master Alok Hsu (www.zencalligraphy.com) and Raylene Abbott to a tea party at his home in Sedona during my vacation in May with my brother David from China and niece Shelly from UK. Here are some nice pictures taken by David that I want to share with my Youtube friends. It's always very nice to meet with real people who we got to know each other online. When we met in the afternoon on May 24, Alok was packing for his one-man show at the Bohemia Gallery http in Ashland, Oregon in June and we are so lucky to see the originals of some of those masterpieces. These paintings are mostly calligraphic portraits of his clients personalities with powerful healing power. I felt very enlightened as he told us the stories behind each of his scrolls. This tea party was definately part of the Sedona vortext that I experienced during our visit, which provided lots of inspiration and energy to my own plein air paintings later in the trip. 1984 Never Forget by Alok k Badal
OPERATION BLUESTART wenty four years ago, on June 03, 1984, the then Prime minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi of the Nehru Dynasty, ordered a massive Indian army attack, on Sikhism's holiest site (its sanctum sanctorum) the Akal Takht Sahib, located in the Darbar Sahib complex in Amritsar. The holy shrine was packed at that time with pilgrims observing the anniversary of the martyrdom of Siri Guru Arjan Sahib, the fifth Guru of the Sikhs. For Sikhs, the memory of that murderous June 1984 Indian army attack, nay a brazen act of state terrorism, during which thousands of innocent Sikhs were murdered, is a 'diary', written in blood and engraved on their hearts, they carry about with them where ever they go.

Widowed Advocate Triloki Prasad lives a wealthy lifestyle in a small town in India with two sons, Advocate Ashok - who is married to Geeta, and Alok - who has yet to settle down in their law firm. Alok is fond of music and does enroll in classes run by Pandit Jamuna Prasad. On his return, his father asks him to accompany Ashok to their law firm and start learning to practice, which he agrees to do. Then one day Triloki finds out that Alok has not been at the firm but is instead spending time in the local slums with a former courtesan named Sarju Bai Banaraswali. He cautions Alok about this, but Alok continues to visit Sarju Bai. When Mr. Gupta approaches Triloki about taking possession & demolishing the slum area, Triloki readily agrees and with his expertise manages to sway the Court's decision in Gupta's favor. As a result, Sarju Bai and others are rendered homeless. With the fee he receives from Gupta, he asks Alok to purchase a used car for himself. But Alok purchases a horse-carriage and decides to drive it himself to make a living. His enraged father asks him to leave the house. When Triloki finds out that Alok is doing well in his work, he decides to hire motor coaches to transport people at a much cheaper price, thus cutting off Alok's earnings and perhaps forcing him to reconsider his decision, apologize, and return home to his father. The question remains, will these actions force Alok to return home, or will the misunderstandings between father and son continue <b>...</b>
