oh boy. time to tackle one of the biggest cancers of the music business in a full fledged band review: Slipknot. Slipknot has a huge following of fans called maggots, and 4 studio albums and a volume of DVD's to their name. their music sounded semi-promising to my adolescent ears back in the late 90's, but quickly that perception was crushed once i explored other acts. Slipknot's music is aggressive, but done in a half-assed way, with forgettable vocals, an overabundance of members and celebrity praise that is a cheap reward for doing so very little. The fanbase's cult mentality resembles the Juggalos of ICP fame, and maintain many of their same naive musical ideas. The music has evolved very little, and maintained a stale, bland element that causes many people to ask, "why are they still signed?" a legitimate question that may never have a satisfactory answer.
