Kershaw Antelope/Bear Hunter: "Bloody Capable" by Nutnfancy

Full flat ground classic drop points that weigh next to nothing. The Kershaw "Antelope Hunter" (1028) and "Bear Hunter" (#1029) fixed blades are outstanding high value achievements overall. You might be able to score one in AUS8A steel but the rolling change makes them in still-good 8CR13Mov in 2011. That steel can be expected to rust if neglected but also to provide good toughness, good edge holding, and an ability to take a scary edge. Both blades are razor sharp and it will be easy enough to keep them that way; they have good edge geometries. The flat grinding makes the good slicers, excellent game skinners, and great overall utility knives. Belly and tip strength is excellent. Add in the POU of "Soldier Blade" too if you can deal with the traditional sheaths and the downsides I identify in the video. They are stitched well however and overall quality on these blades is outstanding (the blade finishing impresses me too). Amazingly you find one of the best fixed blade jimping jobs around on the top spine. It locks in the thumb for more control. Coupled with the lighweight but tough, finger grooved co-polymer handles, and both the Antelope and Bear provide enough traction to flex into defensive roles. Carry weight is another huge plus. Weighing in at 3.6 oz and 5.2 oz (knives only), the AH and BH are featherweight fixed blade options, a rarity at any price point. My favorite is the AH with its thinner profile 3 5/8" drop point blade which will make it great choice as ...

"...and the antelope play" by John Carnahan

"...and the antelope play" is a great piece by John Carnahan, performed by the 2009 All-Southern California Middle School Honor Band (I was first chair alto saxophonist). It is a musical poem that displays the history of Antelope Valley, from when the antelope roamed freely to when the Spaniards came and modernized it, building railroads and such. Notice how the title is called "...and the antelope play". The whole line is "Oh, give me a home, where the buffalo roam, and the deer and the antelope play." This, of course, is the beginning of Home on the Range. Little segments of this song can be heard throughout the piece if you listen carefully. In the very beginning, there was wind, played by everybody blowing into our instruments. Then, a Native American prays to the north, south, east, and west by playing his flute (played by a soprano recorder). The next section is called, "...behold the valley," a nice majestic part in which you can imagine soaring over the valley and viewing the beautiful scenery and life below. As you continue, you find the antelope playfully bashing their heads together, recovering, and doing it all over again. This is an interesting part of the song where various instruments create sound effects. As they play, they don't realize that the Spaniards are coming and they take over the land. A railroad being built is represented by the snare drum. When this section is over, the Native American prays again (but this is played by a piccolo this time ...
