Vitor Belfort: not Injuried, im getting a title fight
Vitor Belfort has withdrawn from his fight against Yushin Okami in UFC 122 in order to fight Anderson Silva. In an exclusive interview with MMANewsLeak, Belfort reports that he is not injured but that he was approached by UFC President Dana White with the opportunity to fight for the middleweight title. Following Belfort conversation with White, Belfort is under the impression that he will be fighting Silva in Las Vegas at UFC 125 on January 1, 2011. Traditionally the UFC has at least 2 major fights in Las Vegas - one during the New Year's Day weekend and the other during Super Bowl weekend. Speculation is that the UFC is working on putting a "mega" card together which will have 2 title fights - Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard for the lightweight title and now Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort of the middleweight title. Vitor Belfort: 'Chael Sonnen Is Trying to Talk All That Cause He's a Boring Fighter'
For more news check out www.MMAWeekly.com Vitor Belfort is coming back from an injury, but he wants to fight at UFC 141 and he's hoping to get the winner of Chael Sonnen and Brian Stann. MMAWeekly.com caught up with Belfort at the UFC Fan Expo where he says that his leg is healed up and he'll be back in training this Monday and wants to fight on the year end card. As far as who he wants to fight, Belfort wants the winner of the upcoming fight between Brian Stann and Chael Sonnen because he wants to get back into the title picture. Belfort has some very interesting things to say in particular to UFC middleweight Chael Sonnen, who has made talking about Brazil almost like a second job. Looking at his career record, Belfort isn't overly impressed with what Belfort has been able to accomplish, outside of running his mouth. "Chael Sonnen is trying to talk all of that to promote because he's a boring fighter," said Belfort. "He doesn't knock anybody out. What's the last knockout he has on his career? What's the last submission he has on his career? He's talking about guys, he's bragging about Minotauro, Minotoro, and he even started talking about (me), about the last 8 guys I fought. Look at him, the guys that he fought, which championship fight he won. "What he's accomplished is just talking and promoting fights."
