Posted November 15, 2006 -- You gotta love Katt Williams, host of the first ever BET Hip-Hop Awards, for holding down one of the hottest awards shows in hip-hop history. Each time Williams hit the stage at Atlanta's Fox Theater, the crowd responded with uproarious laughter. Couple that with stellar performances and appearances from a virtual who's who in hip-hop, and you've got one hell of a show. :: AD :: The show kicked off with a musical welcome from three of Atlanta's own. Ludacris, Young Jeezy and Jermaine Dupri opened the show with an energetic performance of "Welcome To Atlanta." By the song's conclusion, none other than crunk king Lil' Jon had joined them on stage as the show's announcer. "It's time to get it started," he yelled in his signature voice. It was as that point that you knew hip hop was definitely in the building. Lil' Wayne stunted alongside his "daddy," the Birdman during their performance of "Stuntin' Like My Daddy," but no affectionate kiss this night. And as it should be for a show held in the ATL, the South dominated. Ludacris and Young Jeezy's explosive performance together shut down any hint of beef between them.
