The window in the bottom right was recorded on a separate camera and shows me controlling the units along with a BOSS dual foot-switch which I use to switch channels on the RC-30. The 'sweep filter' effect which you hear at 3:15 is a feature of the RC-30 loopstation and can be put into effect live, as I have demonstrated here. The harmonies which you hear throughout the track are generated by the TC-Helicon VoiceLive2 unit -- you can also see me controlling these in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Looper pedal demonstrations have the potential to be only either absolutely terrible or fist-pumpingly awesome. This NAMM-demo of the new Boss RC-3 and Boss RC-30 Loop Stations pedals is, thankfully, in the latter category, thanks mostly to Dub FX. Boss / Roland Corp flew the Australian vocal performer / YouTube phenom to Anaheim to help launch the new, updated Loop Stations. The RC-50 remains the big daddy of loop stations, but the RC-3 and RC-30 are significant updates of the RC-2 and RC-20XL, respectively. They now feature USB ports for audio sharing, three hours of recording time, and on the RC-30 a second track and volume faders for live mixing. See the results in this video.

This is a live video, recorded in one take, of me performing Ed Sheeran's "You Need Me (I Don't Need You)", using my BOSS RC-30 loopstation. A separate camera was used to film the foot pedal actions. My vocals and guitar are run through TC Helicon's VoiceLive2, which I use as a vocal compressor and for reverb and guitar effects. As Ed does in his SBTV version of this track, I've included a section with lyrics from 50 Cent's In Da Club. This video will show you how the RC-30 works - it includes: Using a tap tempo drum beat, dual channel looping, cycling through the effects, removing a mistake track and looping using both an acoustic guitar and bass guitar. I scroll through the effects and I also use the "dual channel looper" function on there as well. I am no expert with this thing, I am new to it, but I am learning how it works. My bass is a Fender Squire PJ Bass (with stock pickups) and my acoustic is a Maton EM-325C with a stock AP5 Pickup. I am plugged into a Behringer Xenyx 1204FX Mixer and all the sound is coming out of one Behringer Active Speaker B212D. Just messing around here. It's 40oC here today which is about 104oF so I apologize for no shirt! But I never apologize for CROCS!!! :-)

Wanted to show how the Boss RC 30 can be used with a mic to create a loop for playing guitar. I started with a Lester DeVoe 2010 Blanca, that was picked up by a Shure KSM 141 mic into the Boss RC 30 Loop Station with 48v Phantom Power on and mic gain set at 2 o'clock. then ran the line out to the Roland BA 330 amp/pa.
This time I am using just the Boss RC-30 and the Roland VG-99 guitar system. If you notice, near the end of the piece I mess around with some of the onboard effects that come with the Boss RC-30 - the bend down and sweep filter.

The story is that I received the new Boss RC-30 looper this morning and was just testing it out when I came up with a rather nice little nylon guitar loop, so I switched on my webcam and quickly improvised over the top of it. My first recorded mess around with the new pedal. All recorded and looped on the spot. The jamming is freestyled in the moment on the Am pentatonic scale. There are quite a few duff notes but I blame that on too little cider.

Live cover using BOSS RC-30, TC Helicon MP-75 and TC Helicon VoiceLive 2. This is a live video, recorded in one take, of me performing my cover of "I Need Air" -- Magnetic Man (feat. Angela Hunte). The right-hand part of the screen shows the footage from a second camera, run at the same time as the main video. This enables you to see all my footwork when creating the track. The easiest way to describe how I've created this cover is to just list my equipment.. Equipment: BOSS RC-30 Loopstation -- Used to create all the loops, which I play in live as you can see. This has two channels which I switch between using the BOSS FS-6 Dual footswitch. CME UF80 -- This is the MIDI Controller (keyboard if you like) which I use to play in all the sounds. I get these sounds from the Roland XV-5050 synth. Sonar X1 -- The music Software I use (which you can see running on the computer behind me), here I switch between sounds before playing in the loops. TC-Helicon VoiceLive 2 -- This is the vocal processing unit I use in the performance. It allows me to put live harmonies and FX on my vocals when singing and/or looping. VoiceLive 2 also acts as a really nice compressor and I use it throughout this performance. TC-Helicon MP-75 Microphone -- This microphone works alongside the VoiceLive2; in this case I have programmed the button on the microphone to trigger Harmonies on and off. You can see this in the choruses, where I tap the microphone and the harmonies are triggered on the VoiceLive2 <b>...</b>
