Here's my 1990 appearance on the short-lived Trump Card. Yes, it's _that_ Trump. This was the Donald's first foray into TV game shows / reality TV long before The Apprentice. The game taped at Trump Castle casino in Atlantic City. Since the show was intended for syndication, five or more shows were taped in one day and most of the season was taped in late July and August 1990. The Atlantic City location also explains why so many of the contestants were from the Philadelphia and New York metro areas.
I auditioned with a colleague from work. Both of us seemed to do well in our auditions. When the contestant coordinator called me to schedule a taping date, she asked if I knew my colleague, Mike. I said yes, and she seemed rather dejected, "oh, that's too bad. I was going to put you two on the same show. You're such killers!" (Don't worry. Mike got on another show and won everything, including the bonus round. However, the show was canceled before his episodes aired so we never got to see it.)
My show was one of the very first to be taped, so we didn't have the benefit of seeing how other contestants played the game. Although Trump Card is pretty much a fastest-finger quiz, playing the "Trump Card" does involve a bit of strategy. You might notice that I mess that up a bit.

TV producer, Rene Balcer, says defending his show's "real estate" on American prime time television has been like "herding cats" (he has got through 93 episodes of Law and Order: Criminal Intent and about 400 episodes of Law and Order regardless). LA-based but Canadian-born Balcer says anxiety and fear help creativity so he doesn't shy away from the battle (afterall, he began his career as a combat camera man during the 1973 Yom Kippur war so he has been inured to stress from the start). In this interview Balcer talks about how his shows tackle the fallout of 9/11 and how "fear" has become big business in America. Balcer says themes reminiscent of the detention at Guantanamo Bay of Australian David Hicks have found a place in some of the plots he has explored throughout Law and Order's long life. He talks about how the show has tackled legal issues such as the Material Witness Warrant that is part of the police powers provided by America's Patriot Act. The actual boundaries of freedom for screenwriters in the USA are explored as well as the interplay between real-life law makers and the fictional plots. Balcer also talks about the Fox series, 24, contrasting the way Balcer's own TV series deal with issues of terrorism and politics. Balcer's view is that the way 24 appears to condone torture as an effective way to produce valuable intelligence results is offensive to him. Łukasz Balcer, zwycięzcą suwalskich Metamorfoz. Uczestnik zdobył 39 procent głosów. Podsumowanie programu odbyło się dziś w Centrum Handlowym Suwałki Plaza. Bacer przyznał, że po cichu każdy liczył na wygraną, ale mimo tego jest zaskoczony i bardzo szczęśliwy. Trudno się dziwić, główną nagrodą w konkursie była bowiem zagraniczna wycieczka. Dziś w Suwałki Plaza, oprócz ostatniej już prezentacji uczestników Metamorfoz i ogłoszenia wyników głosowania, na licznie zgromadzoną publiczność czekało mnóstwo atrakcji. Można było m.in. zrobić zakupy z Miss Polonia 2011 - Marceliną Zawadzką. W rozmowie z Radiem 5 Marcelina przyznała, że jej życie, od momentu zdobycia tytułu najpiękniejszej, zmieniło się diametralnie. W Suwałkach była po raz pierwszy, a na scenie odebrała tytuł Miss Modo. Przy okazji udzieliła też suwalczankom rad, jak dbać o urodę i figurę. Dużym zainteresowaniem cieszył się pokaz mody wiosna - lato 2012. Na wybiegu, oprócz profesjonalnych modeli i modelek, pojawili się uczestnicy programu Metamorfozy, którzy zebrali największe brawa. Na scenie wystąpił natomiast Janusz Laskowski. Przeboje takie jak: "Świat nie wierzy łzom", "Beata z Albatrosa", czy "Kolorowe Jarmarki", przyciągnęły na koncert kilka pokoleń fanów. Artysta przyznał, że z Suwalszczyzną jest związany szczególnie. Cieszył się, że jego piosenki znają i śpiewają ludzie w różnym wieku. Mieczysław Osys, dyrektor suwalskiej Plazy, przyznał, że finał Metamorfoz udał się szczególnie. - To zasługa nie tylko <b>...</b>
