Klaus Badelt - Barbossa is Hungry
Klaus Badelt (born 1968) is a German composer, best known for composing film scores. Badelt was born in Frankfurt, Germany. He started his musical career composing for many successful movies and commercials in his homeland. In 1998, Oscar-winning film composer Hans Zimmer invited Badelt to work at Media Ventures in Santa Monica, his studio co-owned by Jay Rifkin. Since then, Badelt has been working on a number of his own film and television projects such as The Time Machine and K-19: The Widowmaker. He has also collaborated with other Media Ventures composers, such as Harry Gregson-Williams, John Powell, and Zimmer. While collaborating with Zimmer, Badelt has contributed to the Oscar-nominated scores for The Thin Red Line and The Prince of Egypt, as well as writing music for many well known directors including Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Terrence Mallick, John Woo, Kathryn Bigelow, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Tom Cruise, Sean Penn, Gore Verbinski, and Steven Spielberg.

This recording starts with my rendition of "Barbossa is Hungry" from the first Pirates of the Caribbean, but then it launches into some unreleased music that follows this cue in the film. (Some of it will sound familiar, since the Dead Man's Chest track "Wheel of Fortune" is partly based on some of those passages. I'm planning on recording and uploading that one at some point, too.) This is all my own arrangement that I've created by ear; unfortunately, I have no sheet music to offer. I apologize for several sloppy passages, but I'm relatively happy with the end product. Yesterday, I saw Blackbeard, and it amazed me. Therefore, in honor of the coolest pirate in history, and the best character in Pirates of the Caribbean, I present to you all...Barbossa! Because there will never be enough love for him. "To Be Remembered" is, of course, from Blackbeard, and one of my two favorite tracks. I'll be posting a tribute to both Barbossa and Jack to "The Look Makes the Man" any day now. I don't own Blackbeard. (Sadly.) I don't own Pirates of the Caribbean.
