A one lap race at Mount Panorama, Bathurst between a 1979 Holden A9X Torana, a 2004 Holden VZ SS Commodore & a 2004 Holden VZ Commodore V8 Supercar. It's interesting to see how far racing technology has progressed. The V8 Supercar happens to be the same car as my 1/6th Radio controlled version, as featured in some of my other clips.

Danish sports car ace, Allan Simonsen sets the fastest ever recorded time around the most difficult Australian circuit -- Mount Panorama, Bathurst -- just two hours drive west from Sydney. It's the latest specification Michelotto Ferrari 458 GT3, prepared by Maranello Motorsport, in Melbourne. Simonsen is no stranger to racing a Ferrari 458 GT3, having campaigned a Le Mans Series GTE-Pro spec variant last year throughout Europe and the 24 Hours of Le Mans with podium results. The very same car started from pole at the 2011 24 Hours of Nürburbring, with Allan onboard. Sit back and enjoy how much quicker this Italian machine is around The Mountain, than a V8 Supercar. And just for the record, Allan claimed third place last year in the Pepsi Max Commodore at the Bathurst 1000 V8 Supercar race, alongside Greg Murphy. Those Danish are really quite versatile drivers!

Since Bathurst is going through major change, I decided to take an old Shift 2 Mount Panorama archive and put them side to side to check out the differences. The Car I used in pCARS was the Gumpert Apollo and the Shift 2 car was a work kit Toyota Supra.

Great footage in mount Panorama Back at the start of the Group A turbo era. Gricey had pole and got a great start. The competition for the race win would end up being a tight one, with the main competitors, Grice, Harvey, Scott, Fury, Pirkins, Brock and Johnson. Sadly tradgedy struck on lap 6, Mike Burgmann was killed instantly when his car hit the JPS bridge on Conrod straight. RIP

The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 is in as much demand as a massive rock concert with campsites at the famous Mount Panorama completely selling out in a staggering 33 minutes today. More than 6000 campsites were sold out in just over half an hour. Those campsites will house well in excess of 30000 people living on the Mountain for up to a week when the iconic race celebrates its 50th anniversary this October. Not since the celebration of the late Peter Brock has there been a Bathurst event this anticipated. Plans are well underway to celebrate 50 years of one of the world's classic sporting events across the October 4-7 weekend.

The 2012 Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour Race was held on Mount Panorama again this year and of course i was there! :) I got to meet and have a chat with Driver, Gerry Murphy, who is with Marcell racing. He tells us about how his day has been panning out, behind the wheel. Also caught up with a long time friend Terry Nightingale, who did some of the commentary throughout the Ustream live coverage, and he speaks about what he thinks would be better for future 12 hour events, and his thoughts on the days events. Overall, it was a great day, despite the weather, filled with twists and turns, up and downs, which all drivers know, it comes hand in hand when racing at The Great Mount Panorama! This is race 2 of the 2012 Australian Saloon Car Series from Mt Panorama, Bathurst. This was one of 3 races we had at the Bathurst 12-Hour meeting in late February. This was my 4th time racing at Bathurst, but the fist time I have had a camera in the car at this track. I think this race was my best one for the weekend & the first time I have cracked the 2m 49s mark. My top speed going down Conrod Straight was about 245 km/h, not too bad in a V6 VN Commodore with no aerodynamics (it's a bit floaty at that speed). Lap times: 3:02.3712, 2:55.0174, 2:53.0587, 2:51.9491, 2:50.5579, 2:49.3628, 2:49.8345. I came 3rd overall in the Trophy Class (for older model cars).

Triple Eight Race Engineering's first Bathurst-winning car has been restored to its #888 Team Betta Electrical livery from Bathurst 2006. It rolled out onto Queensland Raceway on April 11 at a Dunlop Series test day with Whincup at the wheel for a quick shakedown.

Police searched a waste management site near Bathurst yesterday in a bid to find clues about the whereabouts of a local man who went missing, believed murdered, in 2009. Investigators from Chifley Local Area Command formed Strike Force Renshaw to investigate the suspicious disappearance of Bathurst man, Andrew Russell. The then 23-year-old was captured on CCTV leaving a newsagency on William Street in Bathurst on 2 June 2009. This is one of the last confirmed sightings of Mr Russell. The man has not accessed his bank account or contacted family since then and detectives have broadened their investigation and believe he has met with foul play. Strike Force investigators yesterday led a team of police to search the waste management site near Sofala yesterday, after receiving a tip-off from the public about the case. Previous searches for evidence have been conducted between the Bathurst and Mudgee areas without success. Chifley Local Area Command Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Bruce Grassick said members of the local community are believed to hold vital information about the disappearance. "Evidence gathered so far suggests Mr Russell has met with foul play," Det Insp Grassick said. "It is very clear to police, that there are people in the local area who have crucial details about what happened to Mr Russell. ***View in HD*** 27/02/2012 Rentcorp Motorsport driver, and 2012 Formula 3 prospect, Duvashen Padayachee competed onboard the #35 Ric Shaw Racing/Sennheiser Mazda RX-7 in the 2012 Bathurst 12 Hour Endurance race. Competing for the Invitational Class (I) honours, the weekend started well with the #35 car qualifying 16th out of the quality 26 car grid, and first in class. Duvashen started the race at 6:15am on Sunday the 26th, and completed a tough 1.5 hour stint before handing the car over to his team mates. Sadly the car retired after only 2.5 hours, due to extensive damage after a accident at Skyline. They were leading class I at the time. "With the backing from major sponsor Sennheiser, Ric Shaw has certainly built a very competitive endurance race car. It ran like clockwork all weekend and was pretty fast on full fuel, as well as being relatively easy to drive, which is very important for endurance racing. It was an unforunate end to the weekend but that's Bathurst, it can claim the best car's and driver's. I must thank the entire team at Ric Shaw Racing and the crew on the weekend for a fantastic job of running the car faultlessly all weekend, team sponsor Sennheiser, Ric Shaw himself and my personal sponsors Rentcorp Forklifts, Demon Tweeks UK and Arai Helmet." Duvashen reported. Duvashen was disappointed with having to end the weekend on the sidelines, but is looking forward to returning to the 'mountain' for next years event.
