JOHN BELUSHI AND DAN AYKROYD ON THE TODAY SHOW 1981

The late great John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd are interviewed by acclaimed movie critic Gene Shalit on "The Today Show" in 1981, talking about their latest release at the time, "Neighbors", which turned out to be the last vehicle for the two, as Belushi died a few months after this interview was done. Some of the quotes by the two are now in hindsight, prophetic and sad. Yet, still a funny, slightly subdued interview.

John Belushi Death Piece from ABC's NightLine March 1982

From March 5th, 1982, this is an excerpt from the original broadcast of ABC News' Nightline with Ted Koppel, reporting on the death of John Belushi, who died in Los Angeles earlier that day. Scenes of police and news cameras at the famed Chateau Marmont on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, where Belushi was found dead in Bungalow #3 illustrate the events of Belushi's death, from a drug overdose administered by Cathy Smith, who is seen here being handcuffed and put into a police car, only to be released later after questioning. We also see Belushi being carried out in a body bag, sadly the last physical image the public had of him as he is being put into the coroner's van. The most ironic thing is when a LA Law Enforcement Official mentions that Belushi "probably died of natural causes". This sequence is followed by a quick retrospective of his work. This piece is not complete as it abruptly cuts off at the end.

James Belushi ; " I'm an eagle " (Albanian)

James Adam "Jim" Belushi born June 15, 1954 is an Albanian American actor, comedian and musician. He is the younger brother of John Belushi. He had a leading role in the sitcom "According to Jim". Early life Belushi was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Agnes (née Samaras), who was of Albanian descent and worked as a goat farmer, and Adam Belushi, an Albanian immigrant and restaurant operator who left his native village, Qyteza, in 1934 at the age of sixteen. After graduating from Wheaton Central High School, Belushi attended the College of DuPage and graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Speech and Theater Arts. Career From 1977 to 1980, Belushi, like his older brother, John Belushi, who died in 1982, worked with the Chicago theater group The Second City. During this period, Belushi made his television debut in 1978's Who's Watching the Kids and also had a small part in Brian De Palma's The Fury. His first significant role was in Michael Mann's Thief (1981). After his elder brother John's death, from 1983 to 1985, he appeared on Saturday Night Live; he portrayed characters such as Hank Rippy from "Hello, Trudy!", and "That White Guy". Belushi also appeared in the film Trading Places as a drunk man in a gorilla suit during a New Year's Eve party. Jim made a guest appearance in Faerie Tale Theatre's third season episode Pinocchio, starring Paul Reubens as the titular puppet. John Belushi- Gjak Shqiptari

John Adam Belushi was born in Chicago, IL on Jan. 24, 1949; the son of an Albanian immigrant father, Adam, who owned a restaurant, and a mother, Agnes, who worked at a pharmacy. The couple raised John and his three siblings, including younger brother and future star Jim, in nearby Wheaton, IL, where he began his formal education at Edison Middle School. Belushi was assumed to be the heir to his fathers restaurant business, but while attending Wheaton Central High School, Belushi came into his own as a star athlete, gravitating towards sports like football, track and wrestling. He also excelled in drama class, kept his teachers in stitches with his sharp wit and spot-on imitations, and rocked audiences in a band. The consummate star-in-waiting, Belushi was an all-conference middle-linebacker and co-captain of the schools team and, ultimately, homecoming king in his senior year. A runner up for most popular student on campus, the guy could, literally, do it all. John Belushi Auditions for Saturday Night Live 1975

From Wikipedia: Belushi achieved national fame for his work on Saturday Night Live, which he joined as an original cast member in 1975. Between seasons of the show, he made one of his best-known movies, Animal House. As several Belushi biographies have noted, on John's 30th birthday (in 1979), he had the number one film in the US (Animal House), the number one album in the US (The Blues Brothers: Briefcase Full of Blues) and Saturday Night Live was the highest-rated late night television program. When interviewed for retrospectives on John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd told stories of John often finishing SNL rehearsals, shows or film shoots and, exhausted, simply walking unannounced into nearby homes of friends or strangers, scrounging around for food and often falling asleep, unable to be located for the following day's work. This was the impetus for the SNL horror-spoof sketch "The Thing That Wouldn't Leave", in which Belushi torments a couple (played by Jane Curtin and Bill Murray) in their home looking for snacks, newspapers and magazines to read, and taking control of their television. In an unfortunate foreshadowing, during the opening of the episode of SNL that aired on December 17, 1977, Belushi, while in character as himself, quipped, "I plan to be dead by the time I'm 30." SNL also featured a short film by writer Tom Schiller called "Don't Look Back In Anger", where Belushi, playing himself as an old man and the last-surviving SNL cast member, visits the graves of his ...

The Blues Brothers ( filming location ) Belushi Aykroyd Landis 1980

FOLLOW ME ON FACEBOOK www.facebook.com The Blues Brothers is a 1980 musical comedy film directed by John Landis and starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as "Joliet" Jake and Elwood Blues, characters developed from a musical sketch on the NBC variety series Saturday Night Live. It features musical numbers by R&B and soul singers James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and John Lee Hooker. The film is set in and around Chicago, Illinois, and also features non-musical supporting performances by John Candy, Carrie Fisher, Charles Napier, and Henry Gibson. The story is a tale of redemption for paroled convict Jake (Belushi) and his brother Elwood (Aykroyd), who take on "a mission from God" to save from foreclosure the Catholic orphanage in which they grew up. To do so they must reunite their rhythm and blues band, The Blues Brothers, and organize a performance to earn $5000 to pay the tax assessor. Along the way they are targeted by a destructive "mystery woman", Nazis, and a country and western band—all while being relentlessly pursued by the police. Much of the film was shot on location in and around Chicago, Illinois between July and October 1979. The first traffic stop was in Park Ridge, Illinois. The mall car chase was filmed in the real, albeit abandoned, Dixie Square Mall in Harvey.[9] The bridge jump was filmed on an actual drawbridge, the 95th Street bridge over the Calumet River, on the southeast side of Chicago.
