We're happy to report that Elysium finally has a release date! The Sony sci-fi film starring Matt Damon will hit theaters on March 8th 2013 with Actor Wagner Moura as the Bad Guy. The casting confirmation puts Moura in the part of a QUOTE powerful villain who is described as having a crazy sense of humor. He'll be in good company in a cast that already includes Damon, Sharlto Copley and Jodie Foster. Not much has been revealed about the movie's plot but it is said to be set about 150 years in the future with some of the social symbolic elements of District 9. Damon's character is reportedly an ex-con who will likely have some problems if social class figures heavily into this world! I had an absolute blast making this, and loved every minute of the process thanks to extremely helpful faculty and friends. The reel is a parody of b-movie cinema, poking fun at the zombie horror movies that I enjoy way too much. It's basically the story of a chef going about his usual business of preparing dinner one night, but before long it's apparent there is much more to his chosen ingredients than he could ever have imagined. Enjoy and please let me know what you think! All feedback is welcome, as always :) This is primarily an animation reel, but I wanted to try my hand at all aspects of 3D, so I did all the modeling, texturing, rigging and animation. The 2D start and end titles were done by the amazingly talented Daniel Ruiz.

And exclusive interview with the director and lead actor of District 9. District 9 is in UK cinemas now. Over twenty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees from their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africas District 9 as the worlds nations argued over what to do with them. Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens welfare. MNU will receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens powerful weaponry work. So far, they have failed; activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA. The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when MNU begins evicting the non-humans from District 9, with MNU field agents responsible for moving them to a new camp. One of the MNU field operatives, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts an alien virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9.
