In this segment, we get our first demos of the Mephisto and Panama amps. The Mephisto is two amps in one--loaded with two 6V6 and two EL84 tubes. Play each channel separately or blend them together for a unique sound. With both channels cranked, it pushes about 25 watts and has built in attenuation. In addition, the Panama goes falls in line with Bogner's International line of amps. This model is a 6V6-loaded, 4-watt bedroom monster with plenty of gain for any style of player. Just got a Bogner Alchemist for xmas! My old amp is having problems, so I decided to try this out, with the wife's blessing of course. : ) I'm using a modified '62 strat with a JB Jr. in the bridge, and Texas Specials in the neck and middle. The black pedal in the video is a Barber Direct Drive, and the orange pedal is a BYOC Armstrong Twin that I demo in another video. The amp in the video isn't that loud - I've had it much louder, and it just sings! If you have any questions about this amp, let me know... it's quite a lot of fun!

I've been getting some emails asking about the Alchemist. Since it's said to have a 'Fender-y' clean channel, I decided to put some SRV riffage up to demonstrate this. I have my guitar plugged straight in to the amp, on the clean channel. Position 2 on the guitar (neck and mid pickups, Texas Specials) Channel settings for this are: Gain: 10:00 - crunch on Treble: 1:30 - bright off Middle: 10:00 Bass: 1:00 - deep off Reverb: 11:00 - 'spring' type I had the amp in '20W' mode, with the volume at about 8:00 - it was rather late when I recorded this, and didn't want to rouse anyone in the house. Apologies in advance for the clams here, I wasn't shooting for perfection. :)

I play with a Fender Vintage Hot Rod 62 Startocaster with Lindy Fralin pickups and Fender Vintage Hot Rod 52 Telecaster. The sound was recorded with aa SM57 and a Audio Technica AT4050ASM microphone to Pro Tools 002 DigiRack. No audio editing or EQ was done, only film editing.
