Energy & Dynamic Braking

Energy: you can't destroy it, but you can certainly waste it. That's what most motorized vehicles do, including trains. Usually, the energy generated when you stop a moving vehicle is dissipated as heat, and is lost to the atmosphere. With GE's ecomagination we've discovered that you can capture and store that energy, then reuse it - that's how our hybrid systems work. Watch the video to see a simple illustration of the physics behind dynamic braking. Keep in mind an object's force is measured in newtons, using the equation force = Mass x Acceleration.

Mieders Alpine Coaster (with no brakes!!)

This is a single-pipe alpine coaster in Mieders, Austria. You reach the summit via a cablecar and then sit on a small car with a brake lever and off you go. Having ridden it once using a little braking, I decided to try it a second time without using the brakes. This is SCARY! Enjoy the ride! Replacing Drum Brake Shoes Part 1

Well here it is as promised, the full length version of the replacement of brake shoes. It seems my viewers have an interest in 2 things in particular, brakes and check engine lights so here are some brakes for you. To tell the truth I don't do too many drum brake jobs these days so I'm a little rusty but the principals here are sound and should get you through a basic drum brake job. A couple of things to note here, I replaced the drums on this particular job but if you have enough "meat" left on the drums you can have them machined for a lot less than replacing them. Also, I didn't get the removal of the drum in this video because of time constraints however you can go to the "Drum Brakes, a Quick Look" video to see how to remove them, here's a link. www.youtube.com Watch the next video www.youtube.com I hope this video was helpful, you can always visit me at EricTheCarGuy.com for some of the latest junk I have for you. ericthecarguy.com Stay dirty ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information.
