This is video footage from the cab of an Amtrak train that collided with a car early in the summer of 2009. This event occurred at the Hannan crossing in Canton Township. This is train 353, which travels from Pontiac, MI to Chicago via Detroit on the Michigan line, This segment is owned by Norfolk Southern. It was travelling at 70 mph westbound around 12:10 pm. This is potentially what can happen when someone doesn't yield for an oncoming train. Please be safe and never disregard the warning lights and gates at a railroad crossing. Driving the Plymouth on the Alder Gulch Short Line in Virginia City Montana. The controls are fairly self explanatory. A note on my use of the brakes, with this set up the brake lever was only controlling the locomotive itself. I had a bet with my conductor that I could bring the train down the hill with out tipping over a 5/8 bolt we had standing on its head on the last car. Despite my excessive but oh-so-smooth breaking it fell over, but to my defense, as we crossed a switch so unrelated to me!
