Eagles - Hotel California

Eagles - Hotel California Lyrics: On a dark desert highway Cool wind in my hair Warm smell of colitas Rising up through the air Up ahead in the distance I saw a shimmering light My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim I had to stop for the night There she stood in the doorway I heard the mission bell And I was thinking to myself "This could be heaven or this could be hell" Then she lit up a candle And she showed me the way There were voices down the corridor I thought I heard them say Welcome to the Hotel California Such a lovely place Such a lovely face Plenty of room at the Hotel California Any time of year You can find it here Her mind is Tiffany-twisted She got the Mercedes-Benz She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys That she calls friends How they dance in the courtyard Sweet summer sweat Some dance to remember Some dance to forget So I called up the captain "Please bring me my wine" He said, "We haven't had that spirit here Since 1969" And still those voices are calling from far away Wake you up in the middle of the night Just to hear them say Welcome to the Hotel California Such a lovely place Such a lovely face They're living it up at the Hotel California What a nice surprise Bring your alibis Mirrors on the ceiling The pink champagne on ice And she said, "We are all just prisoners here Of our own device" And in the master's chambers They gathered for the feast The stab it with their steely knives But they just can't kill the beast Last thing I remember, I was ...

The Audi e-tron Spyder in Malibu, California

The Audi e-tron Spyder features what is without a doubt the most advanced and simultaneously the most consistent evolution of the current Audi design language, while also providing initial hints at the design language of future Audi sports cars. It reinterprets the most important design elements that already characterized the previous e-tron concept vehicles. This also ensures the necessary formal differentiation to the purely electric-powered Audi e-tron shown at the 2010 Detroit Motor Show. The two-seater is equipped with a 300-hp twin-turbo V6 TDI at the rear axle and two electric motors producing a total of 64 kW at the front axle. The Audi e-tron Spyder's low total weight of 3196 lbs combined with the high-torque TDI and the two electric motors results in respectable performance. The car accelerates to 60 in less than 4.5 seconds, and top speed is electronically governed at 155 mph.

Battle for the California Desert: Why is the Government Driving Folks off Their Land?

The Antelope Valley is a vast patch of desert on the outskirts of Los Angeles County, and a segment of the few rugged individualists who live out there increasingly are finding themselves the targets of armed raids from local code enforcement agents, who've assembled into task forces called Nuisance Abatement Teams (NATs). The plight of the Valley's desert dwellers made regional headlines when county officials ordered the destruction of Phonehenge: a towering, colorful castle constructed out of telephone poles by retired phone technician Kim Fahey. Fahey was imprisoned and charged with several misdemeanors. But Fahey is just one of many who've been targeted by the NATs, which were assembled at the request of County Supervisor Mike Antonovich in 2006. LA Weekly reporter Mars Melnicoff wrote an in-depth article in which she exposed the county's tactic of badgering residents with minor, but costly, code violations until they face little choice but to vacate the land altogether. "They're picking on the the people who are the most defenseless and have the least resources," says Melnicoff. Reason.tv collaborated with Melnicoff to talk with some of the NAT's targets, such as retired veteran Joey Gallo, who might face homelessness if he's forced to leave his house, and local pastor Oscar Castaneda, who says he's already given up the fight and is in the process of moving off the land he and his wife have lived on for 22 years. And, while Antonovich declined an interview, we did ...

"150" MPH Winds-Whip-Southern-California-Utah Dec 1st 2011 !Damage Report!

This is a yahoo news repost from this morning. My may purpose for this up load is that some people keep track of all this weather info and chart and graph for the rest of us to help us with understanding extreme weather better. PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — Several overturned semis on a Utah highway. Hundreds of thousands without power in California. A wind gust reaching 123-mph in Colorado. The powerful winds that tore across Western states Thursday created a path destruction that closed schools, left neighborhoods with a snarl of downed trees and power lines, and prompted some communities to declare emergencies. The storms, described as a once-in-a-decade event, were the result of a dramatic difference in pressure between a strong, high-pressure system and a cold, low-pressure system, meteorologists said. This funnels strong winds down mountain canyons and slopes. The system brought high wind warnings and advisories for California, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, Arizona and New Mexico. The blustery weather is expected to eventually hit Oklahoma, Missouri and Indiana. The violent winds eased but strong gusts still blew through the region Thursday night, at times reaching 60 mph in some California mountains. Forecasters said the winds would continue to diminish through Friday. The winds were fanning fires in northern California. The Sacramento Bee reported that as of Thursday evening, seven fires had burned more than 130 acres in El Dorado County. Five fires had also burned more than ...

The Big 4 - "Am I Evil", Indio/California

Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax performing "Am I Evil" at The Big 4 Festival at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, California on April 24 2011. Edit: Yes, the audio seems to be out of synch. But this a) because of the LED screens which had a slight delay on site already and b) was intensified in the encoding process as the original file sounds/looks much better. Anyway: Take it as it is, keep your stupid comments for yourself please and be happy that someone shared that moment anyways. Thanks.

Pot Wars: Battlefield California

Over the past couple of years, the medical marijuana industry in Los Angeles has exploded. Estimates vary, but there may be as many as 800 dispensaries currently open for business in the city of angels. An ordinance recently passed by the LA city council, however, is about to change all that. The new ordinance will force hundreds of dispensaries to close and all but a few to relocate. The goal was to bring clarity to the medical marijuana industry, but the only thing that's clear is that the transition process will be difficult. Especially now that the DEA has begun raiding dispensaries again, despite the promises made by the Obama administration. While federal, state and local governments struggle to make sense of medical marijuana laws, an increasing number of Californians support a completely different approach: marijuana legalization. Nothing more than a pipe dream? Maybe. But consider this: 56 percent of Californians currently support pot legalization, the same proportion of Californians who voted for the Compassionate Use Act, which legalized medical marijuana, back in 1996. Produced by Paul Feine. Shot and edited by Alex Manning. Graphics by Hawk Jensen. Hosted by Nick Gillespie. Approximately 9 minutes. Go to reason.tv for iPd, HD, and audio versions of all videos.

HD Relax at Laguna Beach California during a sunrise as ocean waves calm you. Relax Naturally

Update: Link to version WITH music - www.youtube.com Hi, Donna, our son Kyle and I made a trip to California last week. Donna had a scheduled trip to Stanford University to visit her brain cancer doctor. We make visits roughly every 4 months to ensure no additional growth has happened. Four years ago Donna had surgery to remove the tumor. The surgery team was able to remove 98% of the mass and our visits to Stanford keep an eye on what is left. Donna spends roughly an hour in an MRI machine while they take detailed pictures of her head. They put a solution of "contrast" in her system during the MRI. If the remaining tumor portion lights up on the MRI results, then we have something to worry about. Fortunately this has not happened. We decided to make a trip to Disneyland and the surrounding area. Disneyland was a blast. Kyle is not a huge fan of roller coasters but did step up to the plate and ride every coaster that was open. Because he is a senior this year and this may be our last family trip before his graduation, he wanted to make the most of it for his mom and I. He is an AWESOME kid! This video was taken a few days before her appointment. The small beach turnout in Laguna Beach California was calm and quiet. One man was walking his two dogs at the other end of the beach and I was greeted by two early morning runners as I set up the recording. The air was crisp at 6:30 am as sea gulls came in to investigate. While I wrapped filming, I witnessed a small pod of ...

More Taxes or More Jobs? California Shows We Can't Have Both

It's hard to find a politician who isn't eager to "do something" about high unemployment. Turns out California has found one way to save and create certain kinds of jobs—spend like mad and raise taxes. That job-creation strategy has worked quite well for government-sector workers. Problem is the statewide unemployment rate is still among the highest in the nation, and many private-sector employers are heading to states like Texas, where taxes are lower and regulations are lighter. "I would love to have companies calling me saying, 'We'd like to move to California, can you help us with that relocation?' I get none of those calls," says business relocation coach Joe Vranich. "The calls I do get are, 'Hello, we want to move out of California, can you help us do that?'" Vranich says there's no one reason why businesses leave. He calls it "death by a thousand cuts," where job creators get fed up with everything from high taxes to traffic gridlock and legal hassles. Take Rick and Jack Newcombe, the father-son team that runs Creators Syndicate. A long legal battle with the city of Los Angles might end up being their company's final cut. The Newcombes say the city arbitrarily stuck the company into a higher tax category and officials are applying the hike retroactively. City officials are demanding $400000 in back taxes, but Rick Newcombe calls the whole episode "legalized theft," adding that a tax penalty of that size would force the company to lay off 10 employees. It's ironic ...

3 People Living in a Car California Surviving The Recession

WATCH HOLIDAY YEAR END MELTUP AND SUBSCRIBE www.youtube.com A young man struggles to survive in the current economic client. This is a open ended series where I will pick a few individuals for a interactive reality series called ' Surviving the Recession" How Are the Kids? Unemployed, Underwater, and Sinking with 272 comments This guest post is contributed by Mark Paul and Anastasia Wilson. Both are members of the class of 2011 at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. In some cultures asking how the kids are doing is a colloquial way of asking how the individual is faring, acknowledging that the vitality of the younger generation is a good metric for the well-being of society as a whole. In the United States, the state of the kids should be an important indicator. Young workers bear the significant burden of funding intergenerational transfer programs and maintaining the structure of payments that flow in the economy. Today, the kids' outlook is almost as bleak as the housing market; they are unemployed, underwater on student debt, and out of luck from a reluctant political system. Currently, even after a slight boost in jobs growth, unemployment for 18-24 year olds stands at 24.7%. For 20-24 year olds, it hovers at 15.2%. These conservative estimates, using the Bureau of Labor Statistics U3 measure, do not reflect the number of marginally attached or discouraged young workers feeling the lag from a nearly moribund job market. The U3 measure also does not count ...

Driving From Honduras To California

Driving From Honduras To US -- Trip Log Driving from La Ceiba, Honduras to Elk Grove, California - September 5 - 12, 2010 Day 1 - 11 hours 39 minutes - 380 miles La Ceiba, Honduras to Guatemala City, Guatemala This was a great day that covered the length of Honduras and included a 40-minute border crossing. Rained the last hour. Great food in Guatemala City. Day 2 - 11 hours 25 minutes - 244 miles Guatemala City to Hehuetenango, Guatemala This was our worst day. Due to storms we passed 300+ mud and rock slides and lost six hours to detours. The craziest roads of the trip were here. Dumpiest hotel of the trip. Day 3 - 13 hours 50 minutes - 345 miles Hehuetenango to Villahermosa, Mexico Had a 1 hour 40 minute border crossing into Mexico. Much nicer roads, but all were windy and through the mountains. Very slow going. Amazing street tacos in Villahermosa. Day 4 - 13 hours 30 minutes - 594 miles Villahermosa to Tampico, Mexico After three days of winding roads we finally found some straight toll roads and made good time. First day without police/military check points. More great street tacos and great $18 hotel. Day 5 - 13 hours 50 minutes - 623 miles Tampico to Monclova, Mexico Day started with terrible roads. We were a little depressed and way behind schedule. After lunch we hit our first straight/fast roads of the trip and made it 140 miles further then planned. Day 6 - 15 hours 15 minutes - 828 miles Monclova to Deming, New Mexico Great roads the last 2 hours of Mexico ...
