Over The Rainbow - Judy at Carnegie Hall

One more mature version sung by Judy Garland from the Carnegie Hall concert, on the night of April 23, 1961 Over The Rainbow Judy Garland Somewhere over the rainbow Way up high There's a land that I heard of Once in a lullaby Somewhere over the rainbow Skies are blue And the dreams that you dare to dream Really do come true Some day I'll wish upon a star And wake up where the clouds are far behind me Where troubles melt like lemondrops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me Somewhere over the rainbow Bluebirds fly Birds fly over the rainbow Why then, oh why can't I? Some day I'll wish upon a star And wake up where the clouds are far behind me Where troubles melt like lemondrops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me Somewhere over the rainbow Bluebirds fly Birds fly over the rainbow Why then, oh why can't I? If happy little bluebirds fly Beyond the rainbow Why, oh why can't I? --- Copyright of Capitol Records

András Schiff on Bartók's Piano Concertos

Among the many highlights of András Schiff's "Perspectives" series are performances of Bartók's three piano concertos. Here, the Hungarian pianist discusses the three works, from the radicalism of the First, through the difficult-to-play Second, and the swansong of the Third. Nobuyuki Tsujii - Tears at the Carnegie Hall 2011 辻井伸行さんの涙

On Nov, 10, 2011, Japanese pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii debuted at the Carnegie Hall, New York City, USA, as part of the "Keyboard Virtuosos II" series. For encores, he played three pieces. The first, "Homage to Jeanie" ジェニーへのオマージュ, is a rendition of "Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair" by American song writer Stephen Foster (1826-1864)"). The second encore was Chopin's "Raindrop" prelude. The last encore was "Still we live" それでも、生きてゆく, a piece composed by Mr. Tsujii in March 2011 while on a concert tour in the United States, soon after a devastating earthquake and tsunami struck Eastern Japan. As seen on this video, Nobuyuki was overcome with emotion as he performed the last encore. For more information about the Carnegie Hall debut recital of Nobuyuki Tsujii, visit sites.google.com

Bill Withers - Grandma's Hands (live at Carnegie Hall) [audio]

Lotta folks of all different nationalities and thangs, come up to me and say, "I dug my Grandmother, too." And I remember, the first responsibility I ever had was to take care of my Grandmother, make sure she got everywhere OK. And at that time I was maybe 5 or 6 years old. And the most I could ov done was let her fall on me if she decided to fall. But it was a hip job, becos Grandma never went no where but the Church. And it wasn't one of them sad churches, where they sing them songs and make you wish you could just hurry up and die and get it over with. One a them kind of "Lead me on...", no, no.... Grandma them had one a them churches where they sung "If you wanna help me Jesus, it's alright. If you wanna help me Jesus, it's alright". And at the funeral they used to have to tie the caskets down! Yeah. Yeah. And they had them fat sisters in there, used to get so glad, in the rhythm, had a little stove in the center of the church for heat, and invariably, one of them fat sisters would feel so good she would jump onto the stove and holler "AOW!" right in the rhythm. Grandma was like Bobbye over here, Bobbye Hall, she had a tambourine and a triangle. When I saw Bobbye with that tambourine and triangle, I couldn't help but hug her. But Grandma couldn't play the triangle good like Bobbye can, but she could deal with the tambourine. So I used to sit on the triangle and hand her the tambourine. And the Honorable Reverend back there had an old bass drum that somebody gave him ...

Michael Jackson speaks at Carnegie Hall, New York 2001

On February 14, 2001 Michael Jackson's initiative 'Heal the Kids' presented a 'Valentine's Day Extravaganza' at Carnegie Hall, New York City, USA, featuring an all-star panel of celebrities and experts. Michael welcomed the participants and the audience with the following words: "I would like to welcome you to Carnegie Hall, the world's most famous concert hall to hear an entirely different kind of music, a loftier melody. It's a more eternal song. There are two kinds of music. One comes from the strings of a guitar, the other from the strings of the heart. One sound comes from a chamber orchestra, the other from the beating of the heart's chamber. One comes from an instrument of graphite and wood, the other from an organ of flesh and blood. This loftier music I speak of tonight is more pleasing than the notes of the most gifted composers, more moving than a marching band, more harmonious than a thousand voices joined in hymn and more powerful than all the world's percussive instruments combined. That sweet sound of love. Just a generation ago, it was this sound that could be heard in every turn in every town. It was the sound of love that echoed in the living room when a father giggled with his son or a mother tickled a small infant child. It was the sound of love that echoed from children's literary classics as the parents read children dreamy tales before they went to bed. And it was the sound of love that reverberated in their dinner conversations. Between parents and ...

Carnegie Hall, CBS building, Julliard School, Ed Sullivan Theatre, Hello Deli, and Riverside Park.

This is the third part of my video from Thursday August 18, 2011, which was my second day of sightseeing in New York City. This video shows my journey seeing Carnegie Hall, The CBS Building, and The Julliard School of Music. I also went to see the Ed Sullivan Theatre where the Late Show with David Letterman is taped. Around the corner I saw Rupert Jee's Hello Deli, which unfortunately was closed when I visited it. I also found the spot where they drop items off the roof of the Ed Sullivan Theatre on the Late Show. After that I took the Hudson River bike path north to Riverside Park. I toured around the full span of Riverside Park. Check out my next video to see a War ship, UPS headquarters, and Pasta Bistro, which is the restaurant where I had dinner that night. Thanks for Watching! Please SUBSCRIBE!

Andy Plays Carnegie Hall Pt 1 - Tony Clifton Opens

Say it with me folks: MILK & COOKIES !!! Because I know a lot of people hasn't seen this legendary Andy Kaufman's performace, and I just recently managed to get my little greedy paws on it, I decided to upload it on YouTube so everyone can enjoy it. The Carnegie Hall show took place at the beginning of April 1979. In the bio-pic Man on the Moon, this event was shown to be planned and performed after Kaufman was diagnosed with cancer, when in fact it took place almost 4 years before. In this first part, Tony Clifton opens the show singing Amarican National Anthem,"Carolina In The Morning" and reciting the poem "What is a wife".
