In what may be Ogilvy Cape Towns most prestigious international celebrity TV shoot, the local agency has used Cristiano Ronaldo to create a Castrol EDGE commercial to be flighted across the world from September this year. The commercial, created for BP Lubricants UK Ltd, emphasises both Ronaldo and the oils ability to perform under extreme conditions. This ad follows in the footsteps of Ogilvy Cape Towns recent Sun International ad with Charlize Theron. In the commercial Ronaldo demonstrates his ability to play football in extreme hot and cold weather conditions and then matches this to the oils capacity to do the same. While the glamour of shooting overseas with Cristiano Ronaldo is undeniably seductive, more exciting is the fact that were developing global work for a global brand from Ogilvy Cape Town, says Gavin Levinsohn, Ogilvy Cape Town Managing Director. Killing Floor - Fido Castrol - from Out Of Uranus (1970) Bill Thorndycraft The South London-based Killing Floor was originally a pop duo formed by lead guitarist Mick Clarke and vocalist/harmonica player Bill Thorndycraft. During the British blues boom of 1968-1969, they decided to form a "straight blues" group, recruiting prospective members from the classified pages of Melody Maker. Joining them were piano player Lou Martin, bassist Stuart MacDonald, and drummer Bazz Smith. Taking their name from Howlin' Wolf's "Killing Floor" (Wolf's cover was itself a version of Robert Johnson's "The Lemon Song"), the band played just one gig before ex-Radio Caroline DJ and ardent blues fanatic John Edward offered to manage them. Edward's connection with the Southern Music publishing company led to them signing with Southern's Spark Records imprint. The band was booked into Pye Recording Studios and with Edward aboard as "producer," they recorded their self-titled debut in 12 days' time. Most of the material was re-configured Chicago blues classics, except for a cover of Willie Dixon's "You Need Love." Killing Floor was released in the US on new London subsidary Sire. Meanwhile, Edward booked the band gigs at Dunstable's California Ballroom, where they supported Ten Years After, Jethro Tull, Chicken Shack, and the Herd, to name a few. Michael George Goulian (born September 4, 1968 in Winthrop, Massachusetts, US) is an American aviator, who races in the Red Bull Air Race World Series under the number 99. He was born into an aviation business family, which founded Executive Flyers Aviation, one of the largest flying schools in the Northeastern United States in 1964. Michael's father Myron Goulian (also known as "Mike") was an FAA examiner. Michael grew up by washing airplanes and sweeping the hangar floor. He learned to fly before he could even drive a car and soloed a Cessna 150 on his 16th birthday in 1984. He began his aerobatic training in 1985 during his pilot study. He then established an aerobatic school within Executive Flyers Aviation. While earning his life as a corporate airline pilot, Michael worked his way toward the top ranks of air show display flying and competition aerobatics and became US National Champion in the Advanced Category at his age of 22. In 1992, he was the top ranked US male aerobatic pilot and Silver Medalist in the Unlimited Category, an achievement he repeated in 1993. He became 1995 the US National Champion in the Unlimited Category. He was a member of the US Aerobatic Team in 1994, 1996 and 1998. In 2006, Goulian was awarded the prestigious Art Scholl Memorial Award for airshow showmanship by the International Council of Airshows (ICAS).
