Chaplins Time Traveler

My latest blog giving my thoughts and answers most theories and interests in Chaplins Time Traveler :) georgeclarke.webs.com (Dont have time to make a new video at the min sorry - November 1st 2011) This short film is about a piece of footage I (George Clarke) found behind the scenes in Charlie Chaplins film 'The Circus'. Attending the premiere at Manns Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA - the scene shows a large woman dressed in black with a hat hiding most of her face, with what can only be described as a mobile phone device - talking as she walks alone. I have studied this film for over a year now - showing it to over 100 people and at a film festival, yet no-one can give any explanation as to what she is doing. My only theory - as well as many others - is simple... a time traveler on a mobile phone. See for yourself and feel free to leave a comment on your own explanation or thoughts about it. The Great Dictator - Speech (Charlie Chaplin) & Inception Soundtrack - Time (Hans Zimmer)

First, I want to thank Charlie Chaplin for his magnificent performance here, his mimic and gestures are simply overwhelming. I want to thank everyone who was involved in creating this movie, and especially this timeless, brilliant and heartrending final speech (70 years ago!). Second, I want to thank Hans Zimmer for this beautiful and epic song. A song that brings tears to my eyes and a smile on my face at the same time, everytime I listen to it. Finally, I am thankful for the very moment I had the idea to combine these two masterpieces of art. Together they conjure hope to my mind, courage to my heart. There are no cuts. Speech and song just fit great together. I only decreased the volume of the music a bit in the later parts so it does not cover the speech that much, as some of you noted. My favorite moment is at ~2:30, the camera zooms on Chaplin's face... "... but in all men, in you! You, the people have the power! The power to create machines, the power to create happiness! You, the people have the power, to make this life free and beatiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure! ..." Inconceivably awesome. I love it. Thanks a lot for the comments and inputs of the old (out-of-sync) version & enjoy the new one! (I do not own any copyrights of the used material)

sir Charles Chaplin

A movie about my biggest hero, and music is by J-five - Modern times. Even though i'm not a fan of them, they made that song featuring Chaplin's original one from Modern times, and sang about him. So, that's about the only thing i agreed to it. Anyway, Chaplin was/is an Artist, and deserve to be remembered that way. He was, and still is, the most incredible man in our history. He did amazingly funny movies, that could make everyone crap their pants! With the warmest smile and the kindest eyes, he had the world in the palm of his hand. And even though his silent movies was his biggest hits - the Great Dictator made the world know that Chaplin was hilariously funny with dialouges also. There was nothing he did, that wasn't funny. Everything he touched turned to gold! A person with love for his family, and the world. With a heart and love so true and big, and the best dictator in our history. A true artist right to this day! Our dear beloved Tramp. I truly love him! - "I remain just one thing, and one thing only, and that is a clown. It places me on a far higher plane than any politician." - sir Charles Spencer Chaplin. 16 April, 1889 25 December, 1977.

Charlie Chaplin's Great Dictator's Final Speech - (Oct.1940)

Read this text carefully without making any juzment in a hurry! Just read and think! Then, read what is says at the end of the speech transcript! •¤**¤•.¸.•¤**¤•..•¤ **¤ •.¸.•¤**¤•.. "Speak - it is our only hope" "Hope - I'm sorry but I don't want to be an Emperor - that's not my business - I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another, human beings are like that. We all want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone and the earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful. But we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men's souls - has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in: machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little: More than machinery we need humanity; More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. The airplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men, cries out for universal brotherhood for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world ...

Charlie Chaplin - The New Janitor (1914)

Charlie Chaplin's 27th Film released Sept. 14 1914 The New Janitor was the 27th comedy from Keystone Studios to feature Charlie Chaplin. The film is arguably one of his best for the studio, and a precursor to a key Essanay short, The Bank. The film also demonstrates the differences that Chaplin had with Keystone comedy --- this film is a coherent whole in which the stock characters actually fill some emotional center. Chaplin brings a certain complexity to his janitor, unusual to the comedy factory of Mack Sennett. The film, which stars among Sennett's bit players Jess Dandy, Al St. John, John Francis Dillon, and Minta Durfee, is far more centered and clear in direction. Comedy flows from within the story rather than as a by-product of story. After all this is a typical bank robbery storyline.

Chaplin's Essanay Comedies: A Night Out (silent)

Chaplin's first Essanay comedy - appropriately titled - was the only film he made at Essanay's Chicago studio. As with his Keystone films, A Film Johnnie and The Masquerader, Chaplin chose to set the action in a film studio. Charlie is hired as a prop man and is soon demoted to a carpenter's assistant at the Lodstone Studio (a play on his former employer, Keystone) before given the chance to act, which ends in disaster. The film was Chaplin's first pairing with cross-eyed comedian Ben Turpin and Features an early film appearance by Gloria Swanson as a stenographer.

Chaplin's Essanay Comedies: His New Job (silent)

Chaplin's second film for Essanay was the first of five films shot in and around the company's Niles studio in northern California. The plot is a variation of the teaming of Chaplin and Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle in the Keystone film The Rounders, this time paired with Ben Turpin, with whom Chaplin forms an excellent comedy partnership. In the film Chaplin and Turpin are drunks about the town, starting at a cafe and ending in a risque hotel room mix-up with a pretty girl, similar to what Chaplin had already done at Keystone in Caught in the Rain, yet this time with Edna Purviance in her first film for Chaplin.
