The man running in place atop a rapidly spinning metal wheel high in the air is breathtaking. He stumbles. Hearts stop. Somehow he manages to regain his footing fast enough to keep up with the merciless spinning of the round metal cage, propelled by his partner running inside its twin wheel at the other end of a rotating shaft. Then the man leaps - not once but several times, higher and higher, his body floating weightless for an instant before he plummets to barely catch that wheel and keep running as before. That's just the opening of the second act of "Kooza," the new Cirque du Soleil spectacle.

These are the "clown" acts from Saltimbanco, The number was originally developed by René Bazinet. I performed the role from 2002 until 2005... and again on occasion in 2006. The role is currently being performed by Amo Gulinello. (costume designed by Dominique Lemieux) The numbers have often been accused of being too long. Yet, when they were well performed, became a 'highlight' of the show. The audience memeber is not a "plant" and much of it is improvised.

Our Duo trapeze act at Cirque du Soleil's Saltimbanco this version was recorded in DEC 2006, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The music, costumes etc belong to CDS. And the girls who originally performed the act in Saltimbanco are the Steben sisters. Aside from us there has been, Elsie and Serenity Gemini Trapeze, and the Bazaly sisters and perhaps one or two others that we are not familiar with who have also performed the act.
