One of the many fronts on which device manufacturers battle one another is screen resolution—each gadget maker vying to have the highest quality image display among its competitors. Typically an increase in image quality corresponds to an increase in pixel count. Nanosys, however, has developed a technology that utilizes a completely different method for improving the quality of displays. "With LCDs, which is a very common display technology today, you have a backlight behind a panel," explains Jason Hartlove, President and CEO of Nanosys. "That backlight produces a white light, and that white light comes through the panel where the pixels are located, and those pixels flicker on and off to let the light come through. At each location there's a little filter, and that pixel is either a red-filtered or a green-filtered or a blue-filtered pixel. So you either get a red, green or blue color at each pixel location. Now the quality of the red, green or blue that you get depends directly on the quality of that white light you have in the back. If you lit up that display with a yellow light, and then you turned those pixels on and off, you wouldn't get very good color. If you, on the other hand, put something in the backlight that looked like daylight, you'd get very good color. And so the challenge is how do you make a good white light in the backlight for LCD displays, and that's really what we do." Our research shows: Steerable AutoStereo 3-D Display: We use a special, flat optical lens (Wedge) behind an LCD monitor to direct a narrow beam of light into each of a viewer's eyes. By using a Kinect head tracker, the user's relation to the display is tracked, and thereby, the prototype is able to steer that narrow beam to the user. The combination creates a 3-D image that is steered to the viewer without the need for glasses or holding your head in place. Steerable Multiview Display: The same optical system used in the 3-D system, Wedge behind an LCD, is used to steer two separate images to two separate people rather than two separate eyes, as in the 3-D case. Using a Kinect head tracker, we find and track multiple viewers and send each viewer his or her own unique image. Therefore, two people can be looking at the same display but see two completely different images. If the two users switch positions, the same image continuously is steered toward them. Retro-Reflective Air-Gesture Display: Sometimes, it's better to control with gestures than buttons. Using a retro-reflective screen and a camera close to the projector makes all objects cast a shadow, regardless of their color. All the different colors: Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Cyan, Purple, plus White, Limited Edition (Europe) Steel, Limited Edition (USA) Teal, Limited Edition Active Camo, and normal Active Camo (from the Series 1 Figure Packs). Some of these WERE in my previous code+reviews of the Series 1 and Series 2 Figure Packs. Just to answer a few questions that I always get.... 1) I live in the USA. I buy these toys from Wal-Mart, Target, and Toys 'R' Us. Some of the Halo Mega Bloks sets are exclusive to one of these retailers, while others are common to all of them. I try to comment in videos where this is the case. Please WATCH and LISTEN to the videos, I can't believe how many comments I get where it's clear that you just didn't listen to what I said in the video! 2) I am an adult and I have a job. That is how I can afford these. I don't really "play" with them beyond building them and setting them up for display. 3) So far (as of January 2011) I own all of the Halo/Halo Wars Mega Bloks sets except the original UNSC Scorpion, Aerial Ambush (Hawk + Banshee), and Covenant Ghost. Most of these sets I just own 1, but a few I own multiples of. 4) No I will not sell you stuff. A Request from an "I Love Lucy" fan who lives in New Jersey, United States. This short 8mm Color film Footage was fimed by an audience member of "I Love Lucy", on the evening of October 12, 1951, at Sound Stage #2 of Desilu Studios, Hollywood, California. The episode fimed that night was 6th Episode of the First Season, "The Audition".(It was a remake of "I Love Lucy" pilot episode, which was presumed lost until 1990.) Although there were many people who tried to capture the scene of filming, Jess Oppenheimer, the producer and writer of "I Love Lucy", prohibited it, because of the possibilities of Leaking. Because of this, this footage is the only surviving material of "Behind-the-Scenes" of this legendary sitcom. (It is said that Desi Arnaz filmed some filming scenes using his own 8mm movie camera, but it is not proven.) Of all four main stars, Vivian Vance is not appearing in this footage.
