Covent Garden - Street Performer - Roman Warrior

In my opinion the best of the living statues in Covent Garden... Note: YouTube disabled the original audio, hence the current song is no longer what I say it is in the final credits. While I'm not as happy with the replacement song, it's hopefully better than a silent video.

Luciano Pavarotti - Ah mes amis! (Live at Covent Garden)

Well, I promised some of you I'd try to speed this up to the correct pitch, so here it is. Enjoy...NOW it sounds like Pavarotti! I can't believe how stupid some people are, thinking that other recording was in the correct speed. Get a new pair of ears people. Anyone with the slightest degree of sense would be able to pick out the problem immediately. To quote Stefan Zucker from the Bel Canto Society, "If you don't get the speed right, not only is the sound off pitch but it is also off in timbre, or sonority." Not only does Pavarotti sound better now, his notes stand out more than in the one played at the wrong speed. Anyway, this truly is a sensational performance. Young Pavarotti in all his glory. His Covent Garden performances of 'Fille' were even better than the ones he did at the Met, in my opinion. Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, UK, 1967.

Puccini La Boheme Royal Opera House Covent Garden - Opus Arte DVD

John Copley's enduring production of one of the most famously melodious and popular of all operas is a classic of the Royal Opera repertory. With historically accurate designs by Julia Trevelyan Oman and an excellent cast headed by Hibla Gerzmava and Teodor Ilincai, this 2009 revival, in which conductor Andris Nelsons makes a distinguished Royal Opera House debut, does full justice to Puccini's masterpiece. Now available on DVD (OA1027D) filmed in High Definition and recorded in true surround sound. More info at www.savd.com.au

AVAILABLE NOW! "David McVicar's spectacular reinvention of this 19th-century warhorse...Among the most stylish performances was that of Simon Keenlyside as Valentin...Bryn Terfel... gave Mephistopheles a believable domineering menace without compromising the splendour of the voice. Sophie Koch made a fetching moment of Siebel's exquisite number....Alagna...achieving a kind of elegance as well as energy; Gheorghiu eloquent and fluent from the start, the 'Jewel Song' supple and eager rather than flashy". -- The Independent "The Royal Opera scores another bull's-eye with David McVicar's gorgeous and intelligent staging of a Victorian warhorse". -- The Daily Telegraph "[Terfel's] is a performance that won''t be forgotten by those privileged to see it. His mere stage presence is electrifying...Mr. Terfel is capable of modulating from a sung sigh to the crack of thunder, with no loss of control or beauty. -- The Wall Street Journal
