tankionline.com#friend=5074493d6 The 2010 edition of the Guinness World Records book unveils a world exclusive in the shape of a new Worlds Tallest Man. Guinness World Records Editor-in-chief, Craig Glenday, travelled to Turkey earlier this year to personally validate the claim of 27 year old Sultan Kosen who measures a staggering 8ft 1in (246.5cm). Sultan also has the worlds largest hands and largest feet measuring 27.5 cm and 36.5 cm respectively. He is the first person to officially measure over 8 ft in more than a decade and is a triple record holder. He stole the record from Bao Xishun (Mongolia), after Leonid Stadnyks (Ukraine) claim to the title was discredited when he refused to be independently measured. Guinness World Records Day 2009

Inspired by Juan Mann's classic FREE HUGS video (www.youtube.com Guinness World Records is looking to establish a new world record for the Most Couples Hugging in One Minute. The aim is to attempt the record on Guinness World Records Day 2009, which takes place on 12 November this year, and the organizers need your help to make the event a big success. As part of the recruitment drive for this attempt, Craig Glenday - the book's Editor in Chief - knocked up his own "Free Hugs" sign and took to St Pancras International station in London. "I really wasn't expecting many people to take me up on the offer, given how miserable most early morning commuters seem to be," said Craig. "But after about 10 minutes of no reactions whatsoever, I got my first hug - a group hug, in fact, by a gang of lovely old ladies! Then the flood gates opened, and dozens came forward for a cuddle." Guinness World Records Day is a global celebration of record breaking, and marks the anniversary of GWR's own record for being the biggest selling copyright book of all time. "The idea to spread the word and the joy of record-breaking around the world," explains Craig, "and get as many people as possible setting or breaking records in a single day. It's costs nothing to have your record ratified by GWR, and it's open to anyone in the world. It's a great way to raise money for charity, too - we help raise millions of pounds every year." World's heaviest spider title challenged at Museum

Boxing gloves were nowhere in sight for a world spider heavy-weight title challenge at the Natural History Museum last month. The contenders were the Hercules baboon spider, and the current Guinness World Records (GWR) holder for world's heaviest spider, the Goliath bird-eater. Museum bug expert George Beccaloni was contacted by GWR Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday after reports of a possible rival. Craig asked George if he could check the size of the Hercules baboon spider as the Natural History Museum has the world's only known specimen and George is the author of the Museum book, Big Bugs Life-Size.

Exclusive interview with Lee Redmond

GWR Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday recounts his first, nerve-wracking meeting with the Lady with the Nails... When I first met the wonderful Lee Redmond, I was playing the role of chauffeur. I'd been asked to collect Lee and her granddaughter at Heathrow and bring then back to GWR Towers without any fuss. This was a few years back, and my first experience of the airport run. Ive since welcomed the likes of smallest man He Pingping and tallest man Xi Shun to the UK, but this was my first experience waiting in the throng of expectant families and anxious girl- and boyfriends for a record holder. I was getting increasingly nervous as every moment passed what if she never made the connecting flight? Had she even left Utah? If she did make the flight, was it comfortable? The launch of the 2007 book was relying on her cooperation with the press and without Lee, thered be no launch! Yet wed never met her! What would she be like? World's Shortest Man 2011- It's Official 1/2 (HQ)

A Filipino blacksmith's son who stands less than 2 feet (60 centimeters) tall was declared the world's shortest man by Guinness World Records on his 18th birthday Sunday, sparking a celebration in his hometown. The title was bestowed on Junrey Balawing in Sindangan in the southern Philippines, with his parents, villagers and officials showering the coastal town's newly famous resident with a feast of roasted pigs and seafood, cake, balloons and cash gifts. Balawing measured 23.5 inches (60 centimeters) during the ceremony attended by about 100 villagers and journalists at the town hall. Guinness World Records representative Craig Glenday presented Balawing with official recognition of his status as the shortest adult man in the world, with the framed certificate nearly reaching the ears of the standing recipient. Balawing, who wore a white shirt emblazoned with the Guinness seal, took over the title from Khagendra Thapa Magar of Nepal, who is 26.4 inches (67 centimeters) tall, Glenday said. Dozens of journalists descended on Sindangan, a fishing and farming town of 90000 located about 450 miles (730 kilometers) south of Manila, to cover the event. "Thank you," Balawing told the crowd in a local dialect which was translated by his father, Reynaldo. Balawing tried repeatedly before managing to blow out the candles on the cake and clapped heartily each time the crowd applauded. He was later heard saying "Kapoy," or "I'm tired." Smokey the cat's deafening purr wins her a place in the Guinness Book of Records WWW.GOODNEWS.WS

goodnews.ws A cat's purr which is as noisy as a lawnmower has been officially recognised as the loudest in the world. Smokey has gained a place in the Guinness Book of Records with an incredible purr that measures 67.7 decibels. And the 12-year-old pet has even been been known to purr as loudly as 90 decibels, which is what you expect from a lawnmower or a hairdryer. But being the owner of such an obviously happy cat does have its downside.Ruth Adams, from Northampton, said:'It can be annoying if her purring starts as you are watching television and it has reached a romantic bit in a film, because it's impossible to hear and spoils the moment.' It's also a struggle to have telephone conversations. 'When I'm on the phone friends often ask what the loud noise is and they can't believe it is coming from a cat,' Ruth added.'I don't know why she does it. She's very happy and content, just very loud.' Smokey originally atytracted attention when he starred in a purring competition in Northampton to support the cats protection charity. 'I can't believe Smokey now has a Guinness World Records title,' said Ruth, who adopted Smokey from rescue centre NANNA in Northampton three years ago for her 10-year-old daughter Amy. A statement from Guinness World Records said: 'We are pleased to announce that Smokey, a 12 year-old female British short-hair cat, has been recognised as having achieved the loudest purr by a domestic cat at 67.7 dB (LA peak).' World's Shortest Man 2011- It's Official 2/2 (HQ)

A man from the Philippines was certified as the world's shortest man this weekend as he reached his 18th birthday, Guinness World Records announced. Junrey Balawing of Sindangan in the southern Philippines is 23.6 inches (60cm) tall, making him nearly three inches shorter than the previous record holder, Khagendra Thapa Magar of Nepal. Balawing was born a normal size, his family said, and they did not notice anything unusual about him until he was about 4 years old and his peers grew more than he did. He has not grown since his first birthday, his parents told Guinness. They are too poor to investigate what medical condition prevented him from growing taller, Guinness said. But they call him "their lucky charm," saying his father Reynaldo, a blacksmith, had been unemployed until he was born, then found a job after his birth. "He needs my care every minute of every day. Junrey can only walk with some help and he can't stand for too long because he's in too much pain," his mother, Concepcion, said. He does not have a girlfriend, he told Guinness World Records editor-in-chief Craig Glenday: "You fool!" he chides in his squeaky high-pitched voice, "Don't even ask!"

Transcript by www.newsy.com BY STEVEN SPARKMAN ANCHOR JENNIFER MECKLES You're watching multisource world news analysis from Newsy. A world record was handed out this weekend -- and the certificate nearly reached the new record holder's ears. Here's the BBC with the rundown. "On his 18th birthday, a Filipino has been declared the world's shortest man by the Guinness Book of World Records. Junrey Balawing measures 59.93 cm. That's under two feet." The town threw a celebration, with city officials, reporters and well-wishers all congratulating Balawing on his title and fame - quite a birthday party. The Metro reports what Balawing had to say before the event. "Speaking about his birthday he said 'I am so excited. I am small, but now I am a man. I have tried beer for the first time. I like it but can only have a little. I can't wait for my party.' He also added; 'I want a beautiful wife. I know she will probably be taller than me.'" Being at the extreme ends of the height spectrum tends to cause medical problems, and unfortunately it's no different for Balawing. HLN reports. "His dad says he stopped growing when he was just a toddler and it's hard for him to walk and stand for a long time. His family, though, is too poor to find out why he stopped growing." But with his title comes publicity, and hopefully some financial help. McClatchy reports Craig Glenday, Editor in Chief at Guinness, has seen records change lives before. "He cited the case of 27-year-old Sultan Kosen of ...

Aevin Dougasová z New Orleans nám pro změnu ukazuje svůj obrovský afro účes. Na výšku měří 18.5 cm a na šířku skoro 20 cm a má obvod úctyhodných 132 cm. Právem se tak stala novou držitelkou světového rekordu za největší afro. Kaliforňanka ...

SMALLEST MAN ALIVE.wmv

He Pingping (Chinese: 何平平; pinyin: Hé Píngpíng; July 13, 1988 -- March 13, 2010[1]) was, according to the Guinness World Records, the world's shortest man who was able to walk.[2][3] He measured 74 cm (2 ft 5 in) tall,[4] and was the third child of a family in Huade county, in the city of Ulanqab in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. He had two sisters, both of whom developed at normal rates. According to his father, He Yun, at birth He Pingping was small enough to fit in the palm of his parents' hands. When it became apparent the child was growing very slowly, doctors diagnosed the cause as the bone deformity osteogenesis imperfecta, which hinders normal bone growth and body height. He was a chain smoker.[5] Recognition of size In January 2007, He was invited to take part on a television program in Tokyo, Japan. His home of Inner Mongolia is also home to Bao Xishun, who at 2.36 metres tall was recognized by Guinness as the world's tallest man until September 2009.[6] Their televised meeting in July 2007 attracted global media attention.[7][8][9] In May 2008 he appeared in the British Channel 4 documentary called The World's Smallest Man and Me hosted by Mark Dolan.[10] In September 2008 he appeared with the world's longest-legged woman, Svetlana Pankratova, in London's Trafalgar Square, to publicize the release of the 2009 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.[3] In 2006 Guinness World Records disallowed an application from a then fourteen ...
