Czechoslovakian Wolfdog (Angel)

Playing around with Angel. It's her first snow ever seen. Angel is a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog and she is a relatively new breed of dog that traces its original lineage to an experiment conducted in 1955 in the former Czechoslovak Republic. After initially breeding a German Shepherd Dog with a Carpathian wolf, a plan was worked out to create a hybrid breed that blended the desired qualities of both animals. It was officially recognized as a national breed in the ČSSR in 1982, in 1999 it became FCI standard no. 332, group 1, section 1.

Diary of a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog, Ottokar

About Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs and Ottokar. The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog is a relatively new breed of dog that traces its original lineage to an experiment conducted in 1955 in Czechoslovakia. After initially breeding 48 working line German Shepherds with 4 Carpathian wolves, a plan was worked out to create a breed that would have the temperament, pack mentality, and trainability of the German Shepherd and the strength, physical build, and stamina of the Carpathian wolf. The breed was engineered to assist with border patrol in Czechoslovakia but were later also used in search and rescue, schutzhund, tracking, herding, agility, obedience, and drafting. It was officially recognized as a national breed in Czechoslovakia in 1982, in 1999 it became FCI standard no. 332, group 1, section 1.

VZ 58 Czechoslovakian, 7.62mm Assault Rifle

The Sa vz. 58 was developed by Ing. Jiří Čermák and Ing. Bohuslav Novotný. Development of new weapon (borrowing some ideas from previous experimental models) with project codename KOŠTĚ (broom) officially started in 1956, and the rifle was adopted by the Czechoslovakian army (the only member of Warsaw Pact not using an AK-47 variant) in 1958 and replaced vz. 52/57 semi-automatic rifle and Sa 24/26 (vz. 58/51) submachineguns. The new rifle was produced since 1959 by the state armament factory Česká Zbrojovka Uherský Brod. Production ended in 1983 (another origin says in 1988) and about 1 million rifles were produced (between 900 000 - 1 200 000, another origin says 920 000, the exact number is unknown). As of 2010, it is still the standard individual weapon in Czech and Slovak armies (the successor of vz. 58 should had been CZ 2000 weapon system - an AK-74 clone - but the project has been abandoned after Velvet revolution), although it's going to be replaced by the new CZ805 "Bren" rifle in the near future. Although outer design and ergonomics of vz. 58 looks similar to the AK-47, it is closer to the German WWII StG 44 and 7.92 x 33 mm Kurz cartridge, as information about Soviet AK-47 and 7.62 x 39 mm cartridge was not available in the beginning of development. The internal operation is completely different to AK-47, with locking similar to the Walther P38 or Beretta 92 pistols, and the striking hammer is linearly floating.

Though he did actually end up howling for us a little bit in the end. hehee. ess///2010

I inherited my great uncle's stamp collection, one of the albums is Czechoslovakian stamps and I have no idea if there is a market for this sort of thing seeing that there no longer is such a country.
