Hirer Angti is a Bengali Movie directed by Rituparno Ghosh, starring Ayan Banerjee & Gyanesh Mukherjee. Based on Shishirshendu Majumdar's novel by the same name, Hirer Angti is national Award winning director Rituporno Ghosh's debut movie. It is a story of Ratanlal Bandhopadhyaya and his family who are soaked in the euphoria of the impending Durga Pooja celebrations. But their celebration is stopped short on the arrival of an unknown visitor Gandhava Kumar. It turns out that his grandfather, notorious dacoit king Ram Dulal had left a sack full of gold coins with Ratanlal when chased by villagers and told him that one day his grandson would come to claim it. He will carry a diamond ring as his identification proof and would utter the syllable "Ram Dulal's Grandson". Two of Ram Dulal's follower s comes to meet Ratanlal on the eve of Mahalaya to enquire about the grandson. Gandharva Kumar shows all the proof and Ratanlal gives him the gold coins. However, things aren't as easy as it seems. One of the followers has hatched a plan to get the gold coins and had sent a theatre person to the Bandhopadhyay household disguised as Gandharva Kumar. Eventually they get caught and peace is restored in the family.
