And I knew if I had my chance That I could make those people dance And, maybe, they'd be happy for a while. But february made me shiver With every paper I'd deliver. Bad news on the doorstep; I couldn't take one more step. I can't remember if I cried When I read about his widowed bride, But something touched me deep inside The day the music died. So bye-bye, miss american pie. Drove my chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye Singin', "this'll be the day that I die. "this'll be the day that I die." Did you write the book of love, And do you have faith in God above, If the Bible tells you so? Do you believe in rock 'n roll, Can music save your mortal soul, And can you teach me how to dance real slow? Well, I know that you're in love with him `cause I saw you dancin' in the gym. You both kicked off your shoes. Man, I dig those rhythm and blues. I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck With a pink carnation and a pickup truck, But I knew I was out of luck The day the music died. I started singin', "bye-bye, miss american pie." Drove my chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye And singin', "this'll be the day that I die. The paintings of Vincent Van Gogh set to Don McLean's "Starry Starry Night". Holy crap, I did not see this video getting over 2 million views. That is insane. Obviously, I'm not active on here anymore. You can find me on Twitter at twitter.com and tumblr at mrjamesacarter.tumblr.com I also have two new YouTubes under "AdamsRocksHurt" and "MrJamesACarter." Thanks for all the love! I did this on an old Windows with Windows Movie Maker, when I was younger and frankly, feeling pretty low. If I've made anyone feel less alone or brought anyone any amount of comfort... then making this video was worth it. Bless all of you. And if you find this, hello Miss Smith.

I have NEVER, EVER heard this song, sung better. A very simple slideshow, to compliment a lovely song, just ripe for smooching to!!! 1981 - and Don Mclean lends his velvety vocals to this 1958 beauty. (originally sung by the The Skyliners - and since covered by MANY other artists as well - including Guns'n'Roses in 1994). written by Joseph Rock and James Beaumont. Enjoy *_*

Vincent -- Don McLean (in HD)

Wikipedia: "Vincent" is a song by Don McLean written as a tribute to Vincent van Gogh. It is also known by its opening line, "Starry Starry Night", a reference to van Gogh's painting The Starry Night. The song also describes different paintings done by the artist. McLean wrote the lyrics in 1971 after reading a book about the life of the artist. The following year, the song became the number one hit in the UK and No. 12 in the US In 2000, PBS aired Don McLean: Starry, Starry Night, a concert special that was filmed in Austin, Texas. Lyrics: Starry starry night paint your palette blue and grey look out on a summer's day with eyes that know the darkness in my soul. Shadows on the hills sketch the trees and the daffodils catch the breeze and the winter chills in colors on the snowy linen land. And now I understand what you tried to say to me how you suffered for your sanity how you tried to set them free. They would not listen they did not know how perhaps they'll listen now. Starry starry night flaming flo'rs that brightly blaze swirling clouds in violet haze reflect in Vincent's eyes of China blue. Colors changing hue morning fields of amber grain weathered faces lined in pain are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand. And now I understand what you tried to say to me how you suffered for your sanity how you tried to set them free. perhaps they'll listen now. For they could not love you but still your love was true and when no hope was left in sight on that starry starry ...

Don McLean - Everybody Loves Me, Baby (3B)

American Pie is the title of a 1971 music album by Don McLean, best known for its title track about The Day the Music Died. The third track, "Vincent," is a tribute to the famed artist Vincent Van Gogh. The original 1971 LP is dedicated to Buddy Holly, and was reissued in 1980 minus the track "Sister Fatima". The original United Artists Records inner sleeve featured a free verse poem written by McLean about the late William Boyd, also known as Hopalong Cassidy, along with a picture of Boyd in full Hopalong regalia. This sleeve was removed within a year of the album's release. The words to this poem appear on a plaque at the hospital where Boyd died.

Don McLean - 1967 Nineteensixtyseven - A song against war

In my opinion this is the most sad song ever wrote against the madness of war. It´sa simply melody with simply lyrics, but every word hurts so much, bringing tears to my eyes. Please take yourself a few minutes time and listen to one of the greatest songwriters ever lived - and also to one of the greatest accusations in music: In Nineteen Sixty Seven the draft caught up with me, me and my pal Joe went off to war. We might find hero's heaven, but we'd keep the country free. We would surely win just like before. Roy Rogers he was on his horse, and Buck Jones drew his gun. We would surely win of course when the battle was all done. Nineteen Sixty Seven I came back alone, they brought Joe back in plastic on the plane. Nineteen Sixty Seven seems so long ago, but I can't forget my friend or ease my pain. His family may forget him, his children may regret him, his wife may find another and go on. His picture may grow faded and the world he knew gone jaded but as long as I shall live I surely know, I never will forget my buddy Joe. In Nineteen Sixty Seven, the war was raging on, our country was divided and reborn. While I was back at home, I had never left Saigon, 'cause all I got was ridicule and scorn. This was no place for hero's now, they all seemed to resent me, They said "Why did you ever go?" I said "Because they sent me." Nineteen Sixty Seven they buried my friend Joe, and I was flashing back while people wept. I thought of how he saved us and I watched the land-mine blow ...
