Donna was singing back-up vocals for Three Dog Night when she met record producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte who would soon help her become one of the hottest acts around earning her the moniker "Queen of Disco". "Hot Stuff" which features a distinctive guitar solo by Steely Dan guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter would become the #1 song on the pop charts during the spring of 1979.

Donna Summer, whose disco anthems included "Last Dance", "Love to Love You Baby", "Bad Girls" and "I Feel Love", has died at the age of 63. Her family released a statement saying Summer died on Thursday morning and that they "are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy". Musician Elton John said the five time Grammy award winner who died of cancer, was more than a "Queen of Disco" and that "her records sound as good today as they ever did". I was a young 20 year old dj in Montreal and I still remember when that album came out, we were waiting for it, the owner of the record store told us that the album should arrive in his store the following day, I just couldn't wait to get my hands on it, and to play it at the venue I was spinning at. Man, was I glad when I got it, I was not disappointed, what a track, When we got to the club before it opened, my friend and I went to the middle of the dancefloor and we listened to the whole album very loud, Wow, I couldn't believe how good the album was. I played Try Me three times that evening, people were asking if that was the new Donna Summer, what a rush that was, Donna summer went on and carried me and many of us on her musical shoulders for the following 20 years, and for this Miss Summer I wish to thank you so much, you will never be replaced, that voice, that era was yours.
