Dostoyevsky's Pen

Fyodor Mikhaylovich Dostoyevsky (Russian: Фёдор Миха́йлович Достое́вский, Fёdor Mihajlovič Dostoevskij, pronounced [ˈfʲodər mʲɪˈxajləvʲɪtɕ dəstɐˈjɛfskʲɪj] ( listen)),[4] sometimes transliterated Dostoevsky, Dostoievsky, Dostojevskij, Dostoevski, Dostojevski or Dostoevskij (11 November [OS 30 October] 1821 9 February [OS 29 January] 1881) was a Russian writer and essayist, known for his novels Crime and Punishment and The Brothers Karamazov. Dostoyevsky's literary output explores human psychology in the troubled political, social and spiritual context of 19th-century Russian society. Considered by many as a founder or precursor of 20th-century existentialism, his Notes from Underground (1864), written in the embittered voice of the anonymous "underground man", was called by Walter Kaufmann the "best overture for existentialism ever written."[5] A prominent figure in world literature, Dostoyevsky is often acknowledged by critics as one of the greatest psychologists in world literature. Kind of Like Spitting - Dostoyevsky Gets Mugged Outside A Donut Shop In Jersey

Our savior's fallen ill, and he won't get up. We've cast away our stones. Why won't he get up? So unawake with you, you let me drive your car. You let me break your heart and still not want to give up. So now the only time I get to see you smile is in the darkest rooms with the brownest tiles. And to hear you laugh is a sweet refrain. So sick with joy, I'm the perfect boy. Our savior's fallen ill, but here's a souvenir, another saint to pierce against your bedroom wall. It says you can't give up and that you won't wake up, until you close your eyes and lay down.

The connmanding officer was about to give the command of "Fire!" when an offical came forward, waved a white handkerchief and stopped the execution: the Emperor of Russia, Nicholas I, had communted the supremem penalty of death into sentences of penal servitude. "I could not become anything; neither good nor bad; neither a scoundrel nor an honest man; niether a hero nor an insect. And now I am eking out my days in my corner, taunting myself with the bitter and entirely useless consolation that an intelligent man cannot seriously become anything, that only a fool can become something."
