A7 Corsair Scratch built park jet ducted fan UPDATE

In this video I change airfoils, move the ducted fan back and test out a 4 cell li-po battery. This $10 planes airframe is made entirely of cheap easy to find materials including foam board, BBQ skewers, packing tape, popsicle sticks, 1/16th inch galvanized wire and hot glue. Depron or EPP etc could be used to build this plane but are harder to find and more expensive. This is a flying scale replica of an A7 Corsair jet that was introduced in the Vietnam War and used primarily by the US NAVY....GO NAVY =). It was a subsonic attack aircraft and one of the first to have a HUD (Heads Up Display). I discovered some rare video of Dave Hoover and the Coors Silver Bullet BD-5J while uncovering some video on Byron's large scale B-29 R/C model. This video has both the full-sized jet as will as the ducted fan R/C model. While preparing this I recalled that I had a Flying magazine, January 1976, that had an article on the plane. Author Richard Bach of "Johnathan Livingston Seagull" fame had the first flying jet version of the BD-5J. Dig..., dig..., dig..., nope, dig..., Ahh!!!!! Give your old Stormlauncher a Brushless Ducted Fan and major control Mods.
The Stormlaunchers flew strangely, like a piece of cardboard, but still were lots of fun, once you learned how to fly them. I liked mine a lot, but eventually the radios, batteries, and props deteriorated. So I decided to see if I could put one back in the air with my own radio and Brushless motor. I tried elevons first, but the Stormlauncher did not like that at all, so I abandoned that design and demonstrate the one that worked here. It is always a lot of fun to try to make things fly. I'm sure others have done it their own way and maybe better, but this is the way I did it. And since it works, it is hard to argue with success. It still flies like a piece of cardboard, but sure is fun in our snowy weather. Thanks for watching and subscribing. Dave
