THE NEW BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GTC • Bold, contemporary, sculpted design employing advanced production technology. • Sensuous, luxurious, hand-crafted cabin with class-leading infotainment. • Coupe-like refinement with unrivalled comfort and practicality. • More powerful 6.0-litre W12 engine with FlexFuel capability, delivering exhilarating performance. • Uprated chassis for a more dynamic and engaging open-top driving experience. (Frankfurt 12 September, 2011) Taking cues from its GT coupe sibling launched last year, the new Continental GTC builds on the highly successful foundation of the previous cabriolet, which premiered in 2006. Bentley's design and engineering teams have improved virtually every aspect of the iconic convertible with an uncompromising focus on quality. While the first Continental GTC was elegant and understated, the sharper radii and assertive stance of the new model delivers a more contemporary and muscular presence. Advanced manufacturing techniques produce aluminium front wings without the need for seams or welds creating the look and feel of a coachbuilt car. Twenty-inch wheels are now standard with three styles of 21-inch wheel, a first for GTC, available as an option, reinforcing the distinctive, sporting stance of the new Bentley. The four-seater luxury convertible features a new, even more spacious and sumptuous hand-crafted cabin, with soft-touch leather hides, an extensive range of wood veneers, cool-touch metals and deep-pile carpets. A new Bugatti rendering. -Info- Perhaps you have thought of this combination before, a Bugatti Veyron with no roof and the power of the Super Sport. A Veyron Grand Sport with 1200 horsepower may be desirable for some customers, but this combination is not an option. In an interview with Dutch magazine Autovisie the CEO of Bugatti (and Bentley) Wolfgang Dürheimer said that it is not possible to integrate the Super Sport package into the Veyron Grand Sport. The body of the Veyron Super Sport has been fine-tuned to improve aerodynamic efficiency and maintain perfect balance in every situation, while the fiber structure of the all-carbon monocoque ensures maximum torsion rigidity. Although the Grand Sport has extensive reinforcements to compensate for the lack of standard roof, the structural rigidity of the car is not enough to handle the massive power generated by the engine of the Super Sport. Also, there are aerodynamic difficulties concerning the airflow towards the W16 engine when the rooftops has been removed. The Veyron Super Sport offers a performance of 1200 horsepower with a maximum torque of 1500 Newton metres, compared to the 1001hp and 1250Nm of torque of the Veyron Grand Sport. But Dürheimer stated that a more powerful edition of the Veyron Grand Sport is being considered: "1200 horsepower is too much, but more than 1001 is absolutely possible." The production of the Veyron Grand Sport is limited to 150 cars. At this moment there have been 40 Grand Sports sold ...

Bugatti's $1.4 Million, 800-hp Sedan A Hybrid?! gboogie.net, http check this out Given the superlative nature and awesome speed of Bugatti's already legendary, 250-plus mph Veyron supercar, interest in the manufacturer's follow-up is intense. The company had previously gone on record as saying that its next model wouldn't be a supercar, but details were scant — until now. In a recent article from the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, Bugatti CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer confirms that the new car will be in the vein of the controversial 16 C Galibier concept, which debuted in 2009. It will seat four and have a generous trunk, Dürheimer says; you can bet that a set of fitted luggage will be one of the pricey options. More important is what's fitted up front, of course, which the article claims will be a 16-cylinder engine, although power output wasn't mentioned. (The W-16 under the Galibier's butterfly bonnet delivers a mere 800 hp, somewhat less than the 1001 churned up by the 8-liter W-16 in the mid-engine Veyron.) The Galibier concept is big, though, so don't expect Veyron-esque, sub-three-second zero-to-60-mph sprints no matter how much carbon fiber and aluminum the new car contains. Interestingly, a hybrid model (presumably a plug-in hybrid) is on the docket as well, with an electric-only driving range of about 25 miles, according to Dürheimer. - created at animoto.com

It was an exciting flight to Pula, Croatia to experience and drive Bentley's 2012 Continental GTC. It's been five years since the first GTC was launched, so you can imagine the amount of new technology and sophistication instilled into every aspect of the vehicle. The formula begins with a 6-liter, twin-turbocharged W12 engine with 567 horsepower. A programmable air suspension and adjustable springs allows the driver to manipulate the vehicle's ride quality to his or her liking. Top speed is set at 195 mph and 0 to 60 mph clicks off in 4.5 seconds -- similar numbers to some of your favorite two-door sports cars!

More info: www.tuningnews.net Taking cues from its GT coupe sibling launched last year, the new Continental GTC builds on the successful foundation of the previous cabriolet, which premiered in 2006. The four-seater luxury convertible features a more powerful 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine as well as a new QuickShift transmission enabling faster gear changes than ever before. The Bentley Continental GTC is now available to order and first customer deliveries will begin in late 2011. Available video includes views of the unveiling in an edited package in English, views of the Continental GTC and soundbites from Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer in English and German.

90 years after Bentley's very first customer, Noel Van Raalte, took delivery of chassis number 3 (registered AX 3827 in the UK) for the princely sum of £1150, that same 3-Litre graced the Gooding & Co. auction at Pebble Beach, commanding a price of $962500*. Chassis number 3 is an extraordinary, 'matching-numbers' car with original aluminium coachwork and brass brightwork. The marque's signature craftsmanship and engineering capabilities, introduced by company founder WO Bentley, are evident even in this oldest surviving production 3 Litre. The true test of the engineering of the 3 Litre came with wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in 1924 and 1927, the start of an epic run of five Bentley victories in eight years. The legend had been born in a successful albeit short period since the founding of Bentley in 1919 and this sporting heritage remains at the heart of all Bentley models today. "Pebble Beach is the ideal venue to showcase Bentleys old and new," said Chairman & Chief Executive, Wolfgang Dürheimer. "On the same day that Gooding & Co. auctioned the world's oldest surviving production Bentley, we hosted a private preview of a brand new model. During Monterey week, the enthusiasm for the evolution of the automobile is palpable."

The new V8 engine will be available in two models; the Continental GT and the Continental GTC. Expressing their potent, muscular character, these models are distinguished by a black gloss matrix grille with chrome frame and centre bar, a red enamel Bentley 'B' badge, and a black matrix three-segment lower front bumper divided by distinctive body-coloured strakes. At the rear, unique chromed 'figure eight' exhaust tailpipes, a dark lower valance and red enamel 'B' bootlid badge emphasise the sporty, contemporary identity of the new V8s. Both models are specified with 20-inch alloy wheels as standard with an optional 21-inch six-spoke design which is available in dramatic Diamond Black (exclusive to the Continental V8) or Diamond Silver finishes. Inside the cabin, an Eliade cloth headlining, new contemporary Dark Fiddleback Eucalyptus veneers, optional two-tone leather colour split and short centre console continue the fresh, sporting design theme. The two new Continental models will be offered beneath the flagship 6.0 litre,12-cylinder engined Continental GT and GTC, which continue to excite customers with a combination of silken refinement and the ultimate power of the twin-turbocharged W12 Continental engine that, in its most potent form, delivers an astonishing 631bhp (640PS). Both new models feature a state-of-the-art, all-wheel drive system employing an advanced Torsen differential and a 40:60 rear biased power split. A Bugatti test group had an outing recently and our intrepid spy photographers were on hand to get a peek at the action. This Veyron spied here, dressed in white, is believed to be a Super Sport edition of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport (convertible variant), due to the disguised bumpers which are similar to the Veyron Super Sport but with the large, fixed air intakes from the Grand Sport. A couple of weeks ago, we reported on the possibility of a power-boosted Grand Sport. Bugatti President Wolfgang Durheimer hinted then that the new edition could come with more power than the standard Veyron's 1001 PS (736 kW / 987 hp) and 1250 Nm of torque (922 lb-ft) but less than the 1200-PS (882 kW) and 1500 Nm (1106 lb-ft) of torque on the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport. What we see here is apparently some combination of the two. We await further details. Source: World Car Fans.

Video footage of the Bentley Motors Press Conference at the 2011 North American International Auto Show, Detroit. (Crewe and Detroit. 10 January, 2011) Wolfgang Dürheimer (52) prepared for his new role as the Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors at the Detroit Motor Show today when he accepted the keys to one of the company's most revered cars -- WO Bentley's 1930 8-litre saloon which was his official company car. The 8-litre, now owned by Bentley Motors and still driven to this day, represented the pinnacle of WO Bentley's engineering career. Capable of reaching more than 100 mph, the 8-litre demonstrated WO Bentley's ambition and ability to build a grand luxury car capable of surpassing every other leading manufacturer of the day. This ability to combine stirring performance with hand-crafted luxury has been at the heart of the Bentley experience ever since. Mr. Dürheimer, who received the keys as well as a hand-crafted model of the 8-litre from Bentley's outgoing Chairman and CEO Dr. Franz-Josef Paefgen and who will join the famous Crewe manufacturer on 1st February, commented: "I have already had the pleasure of visiting Crewe and saw just why the company retains such a pride in its origins. The commitment to quality, craftsmanship and enthusiasm that everyone there shares, is remarkable and a tribute to the leadership of Dr. Paefgen."

Porsche's new 911 coupe and cabriolet (2011) spyshots By Ben Pulman and Georg Kacher 23 January 2009 11:06 This is Porsches next-generation 911, spotted testing in the Arctic Circle in both coupe and cabriolet guises. These pictures are the first time the new 911 has been spotted with a production interior and bodywork (albeit heavily disguised) previous spyshots have featured chopped-up current 997s. Internally dubbed '991', well see the new 911 make its debut in late 2011. Technical details on the new Porsche 911, please Unsurprisingly, the new 911 will remain rear-engined and rear-wheel drive - but thats where the engineering similarities end. 'The design can of course only be evolutionary, but beneath the skin, almost anything is possible,' Porsche R&D chief Wolfgang Dürheimer told CAR. 'There is no more need for old-fashioned protruding door mirrors, the pending pedpro [pedestrian protection] requirements will force us to make relatively obvious alterations to the nose of the car, and for aerodynamic reasons we are also going to reshape the rear end.' You can see the result of these changes on the two new Porsche 911s in our spy pictures. On these two prototypes theres a much higher but still shapely rear end to aid the aerodynamics, a slightly raised nose, and door mirrors that (for the first time since the 993) are actually on the doors. Expect further changes to these before production. The extending rear spoiler will also still feature, though its heavily ...
