Shocking Video: 'Blue bra' girl brutally beaten by Egypt military

The blog-o-sphere is boiling at the cruel beating of a female protester by Egyptian military police, who continued battling protesters in Tahrir Square on Sunday. The clashes, into their third day now, have left 10 people dead and hundreds injured. The video uploaded on YouTube Sunday reveals the extreme cruelty of the country's law enforcers during the crackdown. The army soldiers in full riot gear have been savagely beating a seemingly unconscious female protester with big sticks, kicking her and stomping on her chest. Security forces lashed out ruthlessly on armless civilians and burned down tents that had been put up by activists outside the parliament building to camp in protest against the military rule. The internet community therefore questions the methods of the military regime who took over power after the ousting of the ex-President Hosni Mubarak in February. Violence ends brief truce at Egypt protest

Thousands of demonstrators remained camped out in Cairo's Tahrir Square on Wednesday night as dozens of wounded protesters were being treated in makeshift hospitals. A brief attempt by Egypt's military to interpose a ceasefire between riot police and civilians near the epicentre of protests against military rule earlier disintegrated into another night of violence. Al Jazeera's Mike Hanna reports from Cairo.

Dramatic video as thousands clash with Egypt riot police in Cairo

The Egyptian capital Cairo was the scene of violent chaos on Friday, when tens of thousands of anti-government protesters stoned and confronted police, who fired back with rubber bullets, tear gas and water cannons. It was a major escalation in what was already the biggest challenge to authoritarian President Hosni Mubarak's 30 year-rule. They are demanding Mubarak's ouster and venting their rage at years of government neglect of rampant poverty, unemployment and rising food prices. Egyptian troops had been heralded as saviors when their generals ushered out President Mubarak on Feb. 11, but on Sunday they led a new push to clear the square and the Health Ministry said Monday that at least 23 people were killed. Since Saturday, more than 1500 people had been wounded, the ministry said. Battles raged throughout the night, with gunfire echoing through streets choked with tear gas and illuminated by scattered fires. Three bodies wrapped in blankets were seen being carried away and witnesses said the bodies were those of protesters hit by live ammunition. On Monday morning, the thoroughfares of downtown Cairo were littered with stones and other debris from the fighting. An apartment building near Tahrir Square was damaged by a fire sparked when a tear gas canister landed on a third-floor balcony, protesters said. Egypt Protest Against Military Rule Nov 2011

Mass protests across Egypt have entered a third day, calling on the country's military rulers to quickly transfer power to a civilian government. The fiercest clashes are taking place in Cairo's Tahrir Square, where thousands of protesters have battled with security forces since Saturday morning. The Associated Press reports today Egypt's Ministry of Health has raised its casualty figures to 35 dead and more than 1750 wounded. "Our demands at the beginning of the revolution were freedom, dignity and social justice. We have not seen social justice," says Nasser Abdul Hadi, one of the protesters interviewed in a video report by Democracy Now! correspondent Sharif Abdel Kouddous, who is on the ground in Cairo and has covered the protests since they began. Video of deadly Egypt riots as Christians clash with police, Muslims

Egypt's military rulers imposed an overnight curfew on Cairo's Tahrir Square and other parts of the capital, which is due to be lifted around now. It follows a violent eruption between Coptic Christians and security forces that have left at least 24 people dead. What began as a peaceful rally calling for justice over attacks on churches and radicalism, quickly turned into the most-violent episode since February's revolution. Military vehicles are clearly seen charging through crowds and ploughing into people, while army infantry fired rubber bullets and tear gas. Witnesses claim the escalation was sparked by unconnected trouble-makers, but state-owned media blames Christian protesters for instigating the violence. Egypt Army violently disperses Coptic protest الجيش يفرق مظاهرة قبطية بعنف

Army uses force to disperse Copts protesting attacks on churches Military and police squads used force late Tuesday night to disperse hundreds of angry Coptic demonstrators and their supporters who were attempting to stage a sit-in outside the Maspero TV headquarters in downtown Cairo to protest attacks on a Christian church in Upper Egypt. Christian Copts took to the streets earlier Tuesday evening, marched from the heavily Coptic district of Shubra onto Egypt's High court before ending at Maspero. Last Friday, Muslim extremists burned down the 71 year-old Mar Girgis church in Merinab village in the city of Edfu, located in the southern Aswan governorate of Egypt. Over the weekend, Moustafa al-Sayed, governor of Aswan, said on television that the Copts in the village were attempting to rebuild the aged church without aquiring the required planning permit. However, Copts were able to produce documents that prove they had applied for and obtained all necessary paper work. The protesters at Maspero demanded equality with Muslims, the prompt passage of a law that regulates the building of churches and mosques, and another law which criminalizes attacks on places of worship. Moreover, Copts and supporters also demanded that the ruling military council sack the governor of Aswan, rebuild the church and compensate the Copts in Edfu. Several activists on the scene reported over Twitter that a number of protesters were injured in clashes with soldiers, and at least 10 ministry of ...

Riot police are dismantling tents and arresting activists who stayed overnight on Cairo's Tahrir Square. This follows an earlier mass protest against military rulers who have been in control since President Mubarak was toppled in February. They were demanding the withdrawal of a proposal that declares the military the guardian of 'constitutional legitimacy'. The protest was arranged by the islamist Muslim Brotherhood, and supported by some secular activists.
