Etruscans of Italy Are Originated from Anatolia: Genetic Evidences

In an effort to resolve the contradictions, a team of geneticists from different universities in Italy and Spain undertook the first genetic studies of the ancient Etruscans, based on mitochondrial DNA from 80 bone samples taken from tombs dating from the seventh century to the third century BC in Etruria. The study has shown that there is a link between Etruscans and certain populations of Anatolia. In particular, the areas of historical Etruscan occupation have a relatively high concentration of y-haplogroup G.

The Armenian Origin of the Etruscans

Dr. Bugge, a learned Norwegian, has developed a suggestion offered thirty years ago by the late Dr. Robert Ellis of London, that the Etruscan was an Armenian dialect. Etruscan words have been successfully explained from the resources of the Armenian, the Albanian, and the Rhaeto-Romansch languages.

The Etruscan Origins of Rome and Italy

A clip about the history of the Etruscans. Not much is known about them except for what has been found in the form of art, in burial sites and the occasional literary mentions by Greeks and Romans. Contrary to what the narrator says, though, they did leave written records behind but very little surviving writings have been found which isn't strange considering that their language went extinct soon after the rise of Rome.

Ancient Etruria II: Civilization without empire

ETRURIA en.wikipedia.org "In the eight century BC, time of westward expansion, Phoenicians going west, Greeks going west, founding colonies. When the Greeks sailed into Italy, they found something they didn't expect. An advanced civilization already there." --Professor Richard E. Prior, Ancient Historian, Furman University, South Carolina, from the documentary 'Rome: Power & Glory' As has been stated here before, the perception is that Rome more-or-less came from the Greeks. The truth is a lot different. As the above quote reflects, the Etruscans were trendsetters on thier own. That doesn't mean that, in many ways, the Greeks weren't the forerunners of what later became Western civilization. However, in most areas of human endeavor, the Etruscans were the equal to the Greeks. They apparently were not looking to expand, as they already were in a virtual Garden of Eden. They were not sea faring people. They conducted a lot of land trading, with the north mostly, it appears. After the Romans shattered the Etruscans, as the victors always do, they rewrote the history. Until fairly recently, the Etruscans didn't even exist in the history books. Now we know that the Romans took Etruscan technology and began to form their plan for an empire. They leveled the vast majority of what had been Etruscan. [Music: 'Hazelwood' by Silver On The Tree]

Turan Nation - Film 2010 (HD)

"To the many theories which have been advanced in regard to the Etruscans, we be allowed to put forward one more? In our view the Etruscans appear to be an original Turanian race which formed the underlying stratum of population over the whole world, and which cropped up, like the Basques in Spain, in that part of Italy and Etruria. "The great feature in the history of the Turanian races is that they were the first to people the whole world beyond the limits of the original cradle of mankind. Like the primitive unstratified rocks of geologists, they form the sub-structure of the whole world, frequently rising into the highest and most prominent peaks, sometimes overflowing whole districts, and occupying a vast portion of the world's surface, everywhere underlying all the others, and affording their disintegrated materials to form the more recent strata that now overlie and frequently obliterate them. In appereance at last, whether nearly obliterated, as they are in most parts of Europe, or wheter they still retain their nationality, as in the eastern parts of Asia, they always appear as the earliest of races, and everywhere present peculiarities of feeling and civilisation easily recognized, and which distinguish them from all the other races of mankind." Fergusson, History of Architecture, vol. ip46. [...] [...] The language of the Etruscans also seems to be Turanian, an early stage of language which forms the substructure of a higher stage in many countries, a stage ...

This movie is a short demo of the VR application dedicated to the virtual exploration of the Regolini Galassi tomb in Cerveteri and developed by CNR ITABC. It is part of the european project "Etruscanning 3D" whose partners are: Allard Pierson Museum (archaeological museum, part of the University of Amsterdam) in Amsterdam; the National Museum for Antiquities in Leiden, the Gallo-Roman Museum in Tongeren, Belgium, CNR-ITABC in Rome and Visual Dimension in Ename, Belgium; associated partners are: the Vatican Museum and the Villa Giulia, the famous museum on Etruscan culture in Rome. Also CNR ISCIMA gave a scientific contribute to the cultural contents. The application is based on natural interaction and has been developed in Unity 3D. The user walks on a real map on the floor in order to move the virtual camera inside the 3D space, on 7 different "hotspots", (path finding). On each hotspot it is possible to listen to narratives about the main artifacts visible in that position. The objects of this tomb are very precious and make this tomb one on the most famous of the Etruscan culture. The installation will last until March 2012.
